NYC Community Colleges

Hey guys I was wondering what are some good community colleges in new york city to transfer into Stern. I know here in CA they have transfer programs to universities and I was wondering if there is such thing in NYC. Also, Do you guys think it would be better to go to like CUNY Baruch and transfer to Stern or go to a cc? All input is greatly appreciated.

why would you want to do such a thing?

Why? I want to go to Stern and my gpa is not good enough to go after high shcool.

Stern looks at SAT scores more than GPA fyi. And you havent even applied yet so what are you worrying about. There are other (better, equal) buisiness programs and colleges out there as well. Also if you have a good reason for having low grades perhaps colleges can look past them, write good essays, apply ED, good luck.

Btw, NYU does not give any kind of preference to CC people or CUNY baruch, its all about numbers

So if Stern doesn't give any preference to cc's what are some cc's in NYC? I want to go to one in like the city not brooklyn, bronx, etc.

2400what, you should look up "NYC community college" on Google. That'll be faster than waiting around for someone else to do it for you.

2400what, what are your stats?

I'd rather have someone who lives in NYC to let me know of some more popular ones than to go online and just get a list of colleges in NYC. My stats are horrible and it is impossible for me to get in with my stats. I was hoping someone who was or knows of someone who was admitted into stern from a community college to let me know which community college that was.

Well, actual community colleges? Manhattan CC,Bronx CC, Queens CC,etc...if you mean CUNYs, then there is CUNY-Baruch(probably the best, located in Manhattan),City College(located in Manhattan),Staten Island, CUNY-Brooklyn, and CUNY-Queens. They are all pretty easy to get into, except Baruch's honors program is hard, and City College is somewhat competitive.

Thanks HarlemNY. I was wondering what stats would I need to get into Baruch?

Also, is it harder for out of state students to get in???

I think around a 3.5 would get you in, not sure though. But yeah, it is slightly harder for out of staters.

Is 3.5 honors or regular?

2400what, if your "stats are horrible" and you think there's no way you can get into Stern as a freshman, then chances are slim that you'd get in by going to a CC and hoping to transfer. In general, transfer admission is just as difficult, if not more, than freshman admission. I would imagine that a few CC transfers have gotten in but not many, and those who have, are probably people who went to a CC initially because they couldn't afford Stern, not because their "stats were horrible". Stern will still look at your h/s stats, even as a transfer. My advice is to look at other schools where you can get in for freshman year and where you'll be happy. Don't count on a transfer because the majority of those will not be successful.

See the thing is, I didn't take school seriously until junior year. I had very bad grades up until junior year. So by the time I graduate high school my overall high school gpa will be higher and I will also get a 4.0 in community college. I'll than try to transfer to either Stern or CUNY Baruch.

For the honors program.

Queensboro is a good community college. Also, you will be cutting the cost of your college education in half if you go to community college and transfer in.

NYU Steinhardt school of education as a articulation agreement with the CUNY community colleges.

http://steinhardt.nyu.edu/steinhardt/db/ugad/1009

Stern has no articulation agreement with the CUNY CCs you would just have to apply as a transfer. Keep in mind that there are courses that you will have to have under your belt in order to transfer.

As an out of state student, it is not going to be easy for you to get into Baruch because they are almost as selective as Stern (maybe more so because admissions to Baruch is staight numbers based where the average SAT score is 1250 (old test) and the average GPA is about 92 (with higher scores needed for the honors program).University Scholars at Baruch have an average high school CAA of approximately 93 and an average combined SAT score of approximately 1320.

How is that, when it says the average GPA is 3.0 being an 80. And then the average SAT being an 1104.

I think he's referring to out of state admissions, or is giving numbers for the honors program which someone mentioned before.
