Anyone here originally from NYC and went/go to college in Boston? How was your transition? How are the cities similar/different?

(The bulk of schools I'm applying to are in Boston)

It's not nearly as big. The city is half college students, basically.

Also, I like the feel of it, so to speak, more than NYC-the history in Boston is something that fascinates me and many others (if that is your thing).

Oh yeah.....leave your Yankee hat home.

YAH dont bring ur Yankee hat...My sister went to a tiny college in boston rightt next to Fenway(well the classes were it was sooo tiny that there was only one floor in a Hostel as there housing...nobody stays in the dorms longer then a year) soo yah u couldnt bring a yankee hat there...But bostons amazing I love NYC and Boston and I live 45 minutes away from NYC soo yah I love nyc but Boston has this whole different feel...

Boston is great, lots of college kids, and great night life. Good advice given: leave your Yankee hat in NY! :D

ME mucho love Boston buuuuuut i live in RVC,NY! Yankee vs MEts-ville...grand just wat i need..I LOVe Boston but u cannot go there w/o love baseball..my sister went as i said b4 and my sisters bfs little sister is a frosh now at Boston University soo yah gotta spread the boston Love!!

I'm from NYC and I spent the summer in Boston. I didn't leave my Yankee hat at home and left out alive so I won't be leaving it at home if I choose to go to a school there next year. I bet there are tons of NY transplants up there.

There are tons of New Yorkers in Boston. A very large percentage of New Yorkers/New Jerseyites who come to school in Boston (like my husband and me) never leave.

Boston is much more manageable than New York, and a bit slower (although only a New Yorker would notice!). It's also neat to be 20 minutes outside of Boston and be in the country. Transition is quite easy.

I don't think the transition from NYC to Boston would be as drastic as something like Southern Cali to Boston.. or ... North Dakota to Boston
