I really hate to ask, but don't know where else to turn. My D is looking for the NYC song from ANNIE....but speicfically the portion that the Star to Be sings. We've been to two large libraries, including the Fine Arts Library at the University of Texas; we've bought music online only to find that it doesn't include the Star to Be portion of the song; and even found the score....but it had 3 pages missing and it was the 3 pages with the Star to Be section of the NYC song! So weird.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

This might be completely wrong, but I recently saw a production of Annie Jr. and that song was included, so it is possible that the Star To Be portion is in the music book for the “junior” version of that musical only?

Thanks, NMR. But, no enchilada. We looked at the vocal selection book for the Jr. and ‘real’ version…NYC is included…but not the last part that the Star to Be sings. Maybe someone in the know can tell me if this is a no-no to sing at auditions and that is why it is difficult to find the music? She wants to sing this for her Millie audition this weekend (at school)…
BTW, she is resourceful…and cobbled together a version pieced together from the full orchestration…cutting and pasting the vocal and piano lines. But, it is difficult to read…IMO.

2dsnmt, when my son was auditioning, we used a service called quicktranspositions (dot com). Dana Haynes will take your music, enter it into his computer and print you out a useful version. From what I remember, he charged us only about $11 a page, which we thought was incredibly reasonable. The turnaround was quick, too, and he was easy and professional to work with. Could be just what you need.

Thanks for the info…I’m filing this away. She already had her audition and ended up using something else…but this may come in handy for future auditions.

I think we have it somewhere. Let me check with my D. She has been in Annie a number of times.

There is a 16 bar version in The 16-Bar Theatre Audition - Belter (Mezzo-Soprano) published by Hal Leonard.
