NYC to Cornell

Hi, I'm flying to NYC airport and then to Ithaca.

To go from NYC to Cornell, I'm booking the Shortline bus online.
It says we need to exchange printed ticket for a real ticket from an agent. Is there an agent at Port Authority Bus Terminal?

The online booking only shows the date, not time of day for the ride. Does that mean we can take any bus ride at any time during the day?

Should I book in advance online or just buy ticket at Port Authority Bus Terminal on the day of departure? Will tickets run out?

You will be able to take any bus that day. Short line is cheaper, but there is no guarantee of a seat. We live in NYV, my kid takes campus to campus bus to and from NYC. It is run by Cornell, more expensive, but you get assigned seat.

Thanks, do you know if greyhound has assigned seating?

Greyhound does not assign seats. I don’t know why you would need to buy your ticket beforehand. Why not buy it when you get to the bus station.

I’m worried the bus tickets may run out to Ithaca since I may be arriving 8/23-8/24, right before orientation 8/25 and start of classes on 8/26. Do the bus tickets never run out?

Shouldn’t you be arriving 8/22?

why? my orientation is on 8/25, although apt opens 8/22? Is there something about 8/22?

Your orientation starts 8/23 for new students. Most students show up on 8/21 or 8/22. Check out page 15 to see the schedule.
