NYC Unifieds Audition School list?

Son has four schools scheduled for auditions: University at Buffalo, Ball State, Montclair State and Pace. Wondering what other folks lists look like. Son hasn't planned for walk-ins, but I'll bring check book just in case. Two of the schools will have accompanists, two require the student to bring mp3.

If Ithaca and Miami are both part of unifieds, why are they in two different locations, and not particularly close to each other?

As I understand, “The Unifieds” or some variation,is an organization and I would surmise that schools pay a fee to be part of the official Unified group. Pace holds an audition day this year on their campus on the weekend of the NYC Unifieds, but I don’t think is not part of the group. UNCSA holds auditions the same weekend in Chicago as the Chicago “Unifieds” but not at the hotel used by Unifieds. I’m grateful the schools do this because it would have been impossible time and money wise for son to audition for all the nine schools he will hit on the two Unifieds trips.

Ithaca and Miami are both a part of Unifieds. Are they not at Pearl Studios?

No, Ithaca is at Nola studios, 20 blocks away.

Bummer about Ithaca being at Nola, glad D did that one on campus. Syracuse and the others are at different locations but at least Syracuse is at Ripley Greer right across the street from Pearl so she only has to dodge 8th avenue.

D has 4 auditions at NYC unifieds, Syracuse, Penn State, Emerson and U Miami. All four schools asked her to block 3/4 hours so I doubt she will have time to do any walk ins. Plus she is already auditioning at 15 schools so I think she feels she has enough (although she has no artistic yeses yet…so…)

Break legs everyone! I know this must be stressful. LA Unifieds are in one hotel and the other schools that are holding auditions at the same time are at the neighboring hotel so very convenient. I know our kids will roll with the punches…us on the other hand need to bring a flask full of wine!

The anticipation and slow build has been killing me, so I’m glad to get this show on the road!

Make that two flasks of wine!!

I was told Ithaca was at Nola Studios last year. It’s only a mile away, a 15 minute walk. Good stress relief to do the walk.

I have four auditions scheduled as well - Buffalo, UNCSA, Syracuse, and Depaul. Seems like four is the go-to number, it’s so difficult to schedule any more without overbooking yourself! Break legs everyone :)

Yes, broken legs all around!!

I’m going to get a bit off topic. What is the reason many schools schedule the dance call first and the audition second? Son has resorted to using a dab of “product” to keep his wavy hair from going haywire.

Cause they like to see out kids sweat?!?

D has 3 HOURS of dance calls in a row…unifieds was a good idea because…?

Oh, yah, because she’s 17 and 3 hours of dance is fun to her (silly me!)

If Nola is 20 blocks away I would leave 20 minutes, and that is for short blocks. One short block a minute. If you have to go over an avenue too, a long block, leave 5 minutes per long block. That’s the rule of thumb for walking in NY and I’ve found it pretty helpful before. Stoping and waiting for lights to change so you can walk is what eats up all the time. If it has recently snowed or rained watch out for those nasty puddles that can be surprisingly deep and freezing cold!

does anyone know who will be doing walk ins at nyc unifieds?

Thanks all for advice. I guess depending on when we are done with first will determine if we stroll, jog, subway or cab it to second! Best of luck to everyone!
