OK i took my PSAT and recently I've been getting A LOT of mail from summer programs and colleges. Two of them are the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) and the National Youth Leadership Forum for Medicine (NYLF). I'm interested in med in both of these programs but they are both really expensive and time consuming (I have a research internship this summer). I was wondering if these programs were worth it financially, personally, and in terms of college admissions.

umm idt so in terms of college admission.. but i def got a lot out of my trip (NYLF gtown).. they take u to such places as john hopkins med school, national institute of health. u have debates on health topics, write a proposal for something regarding health, practice taking blood pressure and stitching a banana (practice for suturing (sp?). also u have fun field trips like to the d.c. memorials and u have a cruise one of the last nights. it was really fun

those two summer programs have been discussed extensively by CC'ers, and we pretty much all agree that they are worthless. I don't want to use the word "scam" to describe the programs, but they definitely don't appeal much to adcoms for their high prices.
