Hey, I was wondering if anyone experienced any of the National Youth Leadership Forums [specifically the med one]? They have ones on med, law, national security, and an international forum. I am planning to do the med one this summer...is it a good program?

This is the main site for the forums: National Youth Leadership Forum : Home

BTW, i plan on applying to schools like BU, rice, brown, NW for their programs and then also to duke, cornell, JHU

i heard it's really fun and that you make lots of friends (my friends went, I think to the med one and one to the law one but not sure), but it doesnt really look impressive to colleges since it's relatively uncompetitive and you have to pay to do it.. if you're looking for something that could make you stand out i'd probably try another program?

thats a big downer because i was hoping on going [its only a 10 day course] but now im not so sure if i should waste my time. i want to do something that will look great for college [i kno thats not a good reason, sorry] so i guess i need to apply to a selective program.

thanks for the info, anyone else kno about this program?

i went last summer. like thepapercrane said, it is very fun, but the information you learn is readily available on the internet.

i went last summer for med. it's really fun and while some of the information is available on the internet, they have great speakers and you learn some stuff that you would be hardpressed to just "find." it's not really really selective though, so if you just want it for college, it's not worth it. it's more of a self-enrichment one. really helped me understand the medfield better.
