NYS English Regents

So, are you all prepared? I've heard that last years was really tough. I took last year's as practice and thought it wasn't that bad until I got to the critical lens essay about how a story told in one city would be interesting and in another it would seem ridicuous, and i completely screwed myself by disagreeing with it and writing about The Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck and Black Boy by richard wright (I'm covering my face right now in shame), so yeah that's the worst essay i've written in my life so I'm nervous that this year's will be equally difficult. Any other NY students feeling nervous right about now?

Umm, at least at my school its regarded really as a joke to the point where its embarrassing to have done poorly on it (ie 70s or 80s, possibly even low 90s).

In a word, no.

Last years English regents as a whole was not hard at all..there was one passage i remember (i think the one where you have to read the passages) was extremely hard and thats where i lost all my points. I got a 96.. so yea, i remember it was a passage and poem which were both long and annoying but beside that everything else was particularly easy..It's a long 6hr test but its easy overall..

yeah, people in my school are generally not that smart and it doesn't foster much competition, so that probably explains why you both thought it was so easy. I always hear people on this site saying "regents are a joke, they're so easy" but they're easily one of the most openly loathed things at my school, hehe

the english regents IS that easy. Not everyone in my class was brilliant but we had ONE score under 97, and that girl was removed from Honors. I got a 99 and only because of a ridiculous error, i would not worry about it at all

well, you live in westchester where i assume the kids are slightly smarter than where i live (rural area outside binghamton) but still, I feel more confident now, thanks

NOt all regents are easy.....Physics regents is extremely hard..hard to get in the 80;s...you gotta be real smart to get a 90, i got an 86 and i also got a 4 on the AP..i found it slightly harder than the AP

I heard last year's was a joke. They all seem really easy to me, we took a practice and I got 6's across the board and every multiple choice.

Yeah, last year's wasn't so bad.

It is the kind of test that you really just have to take without getting too drawn into it. It's not even as important as your teachers make it out to be. Simply, don't get stressed over it.

I got a 100 on it, and I am in regular English (read: I am less than stellar). I just took the test without a care. Seemed to have worked ;D

I took the english regents last year and I found it extemely easy. I got a 96 easily. Just make sure u write the essays well because thats basically the whole test. Go to sites like edusolution.com and find old regents to practice on.

i fell asleep during the english regents for 15 min....98% no prep and no sleep (came out of finals week) DO NOT STUDY it is a complete waste of time...if u can do well or even avg on the verbal section of the SAT(critical reading) sat writing (for essay) there is no possible way to fail this

haha, i guess you guys were right about it... I took last year's test as practice and got a 99, I don't know why every one at my school went on about how hard it is. regardless, good luck to all you NY state people tomorrow, there's always a chance they could give you a hard one so I'm just preparing for that and not getting my hopes up.
