NYSSMA All-State... the process???

Hey, I want to try for All State in NYSSMA.
But I'm not sure how NYSSMA works...I haven't done NYSSMA before....
SO... my question is...
I think I am applying for level 6 this year...
If, I do good on it, am I allowed to compete in all state level in the same year? Or do I have to wait until next year to apply for all state?
And if I just want to try for all state level, can I apply for all state level even though I havent done NYSSMA before?

I know... these are kind of stupid questions.... but really, I need answers
:) It would be great if you guys can give me the info about NYSSMA!!

I play piano (93 on 6 in freshman year! woot!) which doesn't have all state.

you should ask your music teacher, but I think you need to get a 98, 99, or 100 to be all state.

i do know that at all state, you basically spend 1 week (like january break) performing with other musicians

All-state is its own level right above 6. You play a level 6 piece but the judging is slightly different and the sight-reading is more difficult.

What scores allow you to get into all-state depend on where you live. In competitive areas like my county and probably Long Island, you can get a 100 and easily get rejected. In less competitive areas, you could probably get in with a 97.

You can sign up for any level you want. NYSSMA isn't until spring anyways.
