Nytimes article on sat

<p>ok....now this is getting annoying...I just searched through the recycling bin for the New York section of yesterday's Times....no article to be found....and I already PM'd the OP....oh well...I think it was probably in the local NY section...anybody have it?</p>

<p>Ah, this article. For those who don't know, New York City has instituted a system of grading schools. I don't know the details of it since I don't live in the city, but I gather that what happens is that considerable weight is given to schools which are improving and to schools where minority groups perform as well (or badly) as majority groups. The result has been that some well-known top publics have received lower grades than schools performing less well academically. It's pretty much irrelevant to college admissions, but parents shouldn't use the grading system as their only way of choosing schools for their kids.</p>
