NYTimes: "Elite Korean Schools, Forging Ivy League Skills"

lol k&s. Take that information with a grain of salt, because “volleyball class” is simply a required low level gym class. In the Korean educational system, students eat lunch and dinner at school, also giving them free time if they finish eating quickly. So while “students play sports,” it’s at most for 40-60 minutes out of a 14 hour school day (well when I was there). And those “clubs” are simply hosted on Saturdays; and rather than being communal or charity clubs, they’re mostly dedicated to hanging out and relaxing, with the occasional book club.
