I would really like to attend NYU but I'm afraid my SAT score is a bit low. I have a 1250 (V- 590 M-660) My school doesn't do grades on the 4.0 scale but i have a 93 avg. MY ECs are avg but I did complete more than 100 hrs of service at a hospital. I don't really have any amazingly distinctions but I am really involved in community service.

is it really hard for me to get into CAS? Im an international in Indonesia, i have 3.3 GPA UW and 3.9 W (Im taking IB diploma).. I have 560 v and 670 m.. = 1230.. I think i wont be applying for financial aid.. thx

how is international relations at NYU CAS?

Stern is the most difficult school in NYU to gain admission to. Many students apply to CAS instead of STERN just because they don't think that they will get in. CAS has a strong economics program which many business minded people are enrolled in. That said DO NOT PLAN on getting into CAS and then transferring into STERN because it is virutally impossible. STERN students get awesome internships but you can get those same internships and othe opportunities outside of STERN. Hoped that helped
Good Luck

I was wondering if the different divisions of NYU are on good terms, or more specifically, are the students on good terms? I am going to Tish; should I be worried about Sternies looking down their noses at me? Is there a lot of mingling, or does each group keep to themselves?

wow- I graduated from Stern in 1980-(was Tisch school of Business back then) glad to see that NYU is so appealing. They nust be doing something right! Good luck to all!

I've got a question. Does NYU support double majors. I plan on double majoring between Computer Sccience and English. Also how important are the sats. I have a perfect gpa (uw) and am 2/431 but got a 1830 (630v 610 m 590 w)on the sats. In order to counter balance my low sats I took college courses (calculus this year[I'm a junior] and call II next year) as well as computer science. I have lots of ecs and am unique. Do you think I'll have a chance applying to CAS.

can u evaluate my chances?

NYU chances..

The music program at our school is ranked top 5 in the state, and NJ is known for its musically talented high schools. so do you think my school being known for its musical potential will help in the admission process?

yes. well im a junior currently right now. and i am planning to apply to the Clive Davis program at the Tisch department. it has my dream to work behind the scenes of the comtemporary music industry and i plan on doing whatever i have to do to get accepted by this program.I know 40-50% of the other part of the application has to do with the portfolio..but if my portfolio is stellar. do you think just this part, my grades and extracurricular are fulfilling to NYU's standard for the Tisch department of the Clive Davis program. ( Note. Clive Davis only accepts 18 students a year, really, 24 but 6 are transfer).i am very passionate and talented in what I love to do. I long to learn about music and its recorded industry functions to enter the industry as soon as I am finished with my degree at Clive Davis.. what do ya guys think?

btw. i know alot of my ECs (the choir ones) are classically and choral based. but I do have a passionate love for the comtemporary arts more and I only participated in these wonderful programs because classical singing teaches you the basics and the foundations, and from this point, you can flourish your skills to its maximum potential.nevertheless, I am not going for a performance major, I am planning to work behind the scenes of music companies and labels.

hey...no offense to askaboutnyu, but i really think you guys should ask your questions on the NYU board so you can get a better viewpoint. i go to school in the city and my roommate and a couple good friends go to nyu and really think it's a rip off... my roommate moved off campus because the security guards at her dorm didn't notice when a homeless guy came into the dorm, sexually harrassed someone and stole a bunch of expensive camera equipment. also, the tuition is incredibly high but many students there that i know don't feel that they're getting what they paid for. my roommate goes to tisch and has paid soooo much but still has to buy her own photo supplies, which is extremely expensive. another friend lived on water street last year, which it seems like askaboutnyu lives as well, and yes, it's a nice high rise, but it's in the very bottom of manhattan, not much around, far away from everything, and not the safest place to be at night. i'm not saying nyu is a bad school, obviously i don't go there so i won't judge, but all you prospective students should really not base your decisions on the very biased opinion of a single person.

AskaboutNYU do you have AIM.?

I'm a junior in high school right now and I'm thinking about applying to NYU early decision next year but I think my GPA will hurt me since it's on the low side. Could you please evaluate my chances?
