I doubt they matter that much, biggy. But then again, I cannot say. From what I have heard, they would not be that forceful in the decision.

Mandela, midterm reports are special cases I think. Not everyone gets them.

biggy, did u apply for the spring or fall? and whend u hear back?

fall - stern. they matter. i heard back the day after they received my mid-semester grade report (literally).

I sure hope that’s the case with me. :)

actually that wasnt it. it was my recommendation letter. but whatever, good luck.

I received my temporary ID through mail, yet I applied online. I’ve yet to receive any information requesting my mid-semester grades, is this a bad sign? I’ve applied for the Spring 2008 semester, by the way.

I’ve never received any e-mail from NYU, is this very unusual? When I called, they confirmed that they’ve received my application and materials, but still, no e-mail from them.

anyone knows the e-mail address for Stern admission officer? I emailed him few months ago, but I can’t find it on the website right now. I think they removed the address on the site and made the bulletinboard. Is it only me that can’t find the e-mail address? I already spent about an hour in the nyu website and it gave me a headache.

so people should be receiving their mid semester reports now?

frogman, it’s better to call them

If anyone has an idea on my chances for Sping '08 that’d be really helpful:

Applying from Univ. of Southern California (Annenberg comm major) to Steinhardt (media, culture, and comm major)
SAT: Reading 730, Writing 730, Math 710
ACT: 32
High School GPA: 3.8
Lots of high school extracurriculars, a couple at my first semester at USC.
I got into NYU Stern (marketing) for the fall 2007 term but picked USC to major in comm

I think they definitely look down on freshmen transfer students though, and I think it esp. hurts that I turned down NYU once. I do have 20 college credits from APs and the 18 I’m doing here so by the spring I’d technically have over a year but that still doesn’t inspire too much confidence… and I haven’t been asked to send my mid-semester grades so that makes me kinda nervous too…hopefully we hear back before december!

i think you have a shot. if you got into stern, steinhardt shouldn’t be a problem. you turned down a completely different school at nyu, not nyu as a whole. yet you’re transferring from a similar school, pursuing similar interests (i assume). speak to admissions. but i think you’re fine.

I’m set on applying to NYU Stern for Fall '08 as a junior transfer. I’m an Asian male. My stats:

College: University of Florida
Current GPA: 4.0 at 30 credits (taking 15 credits this semester, expecting 4.0)
Prerequisites: all will be completed (calculus and managerial accounting next semester) plus similar classes offered at NYU (Marketing, Management, Operations Management)
ECs: vice president of a small performing club, member of the finance club

High School:
SATs: 670 math/670 verbal
SAT IIs: none, unfortunately
GPA: 3.7 uw / 4.75 weighted; salutatorian of a small high school
APs: Microeconomics (5), Calculus AB (3), Statistics (3), US History (3), English Language (2), English Literature (2)
ECs: 120 hours of community service, NHS, Mu Alpha Theta (treasurer/math tutor), Business Professionals of America

Anyone want to comment on my chances? Much appreciation. Thanks!

Hello every one, i have a question. My stats are: 3.73 GPA, all A’s for the prerequisites for Stern, international student, by next semester i will have 60 completed units. 3 times at Dean’s list. I have not taken SAT because i have taken to English classes at the college so i was told that the SAT is not required. I will have two great recommendation letters. Do you think i have a chance to get in NYU? Also i am waiting to finish my semester and then to send my application probably in January is this disadvantage? Thank u all

hey guys, i study at UF…and just want to know the chances of transferring to NYU…im in the honors porgram here and have a 3.77GPA and ive completed all the prereqs…i have super strong recs from some of the best profs at UF…im an international student so my SATs are like 1300…and my SAT 2 is like 1480…with math 2c…what are my chances at stern? ecs…im editor of business newspaper and head several other organizations…

ugh i just talked to an nyu person about sending midterm grades because i didn’t get an e-mail and they told me my application got moved to fall 2008 because they dont take first semester freshmen applicants. i’m applying to steinhardt, online it only said stern and the CAS wouldn’t take first semester freshmen. should i try to appeal to anyone or would i just seem like a major pain in the ass? fall 2008 is still ok for me but the sooner i could get there the better! this sucks.

wait..so you can ask them online if they sent out a midterm report to your email? possibly hinting at acceptance?

What Classes Should I Be Taking For A Gallatin Transfer?

modernage13: Midterm Grade Report does not mean acceptance at all. If anything it means your on the borderline of rejection and they want to see some more grades before they make a decision. I can see how someone would be excited to get a mgr, but all it means in reality is borderline status.

evanthomas1: There are little to no pre-reqs for gallatin transfers. follow a general liberal arts curriculum.

epiper: your chances look good. if you took two sat ii’s and scored above a 700, i can’t think of why you wouldn’t be accepted assuming your essays+qs are great.

oh thank god! thank the lord! phew…man rejection would crush me..

but if they were thinking of rejecting you wouldnt they just do it? i thought the MGR would serve as an indication of interest from NYU and seeing how youre doing?

thanks for the info
