So I got an A in every class except english where i got a B-. My GPA is going to be calculated as a 3.64 with NYUs grading scale. Does that pretty much kill my chance at getting into Stern? Should i just forget about it?

1,702 represents the amount of admitted transfer students for the entire university. certain schools (stern in particular) has only a little over 100.

Hello..guys..
could you evaluate my stats?

I am an intl transfer student who go to the college in korea.
and I wanna transfer to NYU CAS or Gallatin school. (Fall 2008)

current college: one of the universities in korea
college gpa: 4.0/4.0 (around 48 credits…I just finished my third semester.)
HS gpa: 3.4~3.5/4.0
(10th~12th grade records-little bit low cuz I got a medical problem
when I was in 10th grade, but my scores were improved gradually
When I was in 11th and 12th grades.)
TOEFL: 270
SAT 1: CR-570, Math- 760, W- 540
(These are the highest scores so far.
I know scores are pretty low but I am gonna retake in January.)
SAT 2: Korean 800
ECs: merit-based scholarship in the college. (2 years in a row.)
joining some clubs (position: leader, staff etc.)
got lots awards in paintings when I was in HS
pretty good at playing the piano and flute.
6~7 volunteer services
having some interns (english institute or some companies)
tutoring
other job experiences such as a part-time job
Recommendation: two reco. from my professor. (dean and another pro.)
Essays: I haven’t write yet.

As I mentioned above, I just finished my third semester.
Is this mean I can apply to NYU as a junior standing??

can I get admitted to NYU CAS or Gallatin??
I really wanna go to NYU:(

plz..give me some advice..how can I ger into NYU CAS or Gallatin.
(for example, what is my weakness and how can I recover my weakness.)

Can you send in a transcript to NYU if you haven’t submitted your application yet? Or should I just get my transcripts sent to me and send in my transcripts together with my recommendation.

chocola: What are you interested in studying?

trojans14: your transcript must be sent directly from your academic institution. you should send in your app first and then the transcript to ensure that they have a folder ready for your materials so it doesn’t get lost (it happens).

jay1020: I am interested in studying econ or pre-law if I get into CAS
and am interested in studying business management, pre-law and
illustration stuff (need to combine all three stuffs to make individual
major) if I get into Gallatin.

Oh…I changed my mind a little.
I am gonna apply to CAS, Steinhardt (communication) or Gallatin.

Could you guys evaluate my stat?
can I get admitted to NYU CAS, Steinhardt or Gallatin??
I really wanna go to NYU:(
AND this is my priority which I wanna get into CAS=Steinhardt>Gallatin

plz..give me some advice..how can I get into NYU.

I’m thinking about applying to NYU in fall '08 to Stern, but I just need a bit of advice.

I got into USC Marshall for spring '08 and will be going there. I have excellent stats (4.0 GPA with 52 hours currently from University of Houston). Is it worth going to USC for a semester and applying to NYU? I will basically lose a semester and about 7K. USC-Marshall is a great business school, but their is just something about NYU-Stern that I love. Any ideas?

it depends where you want to work. if you’re sticking with CA, then usc will probably fit well since not many people on the east coast know of usc’s business school brand image.

So…i’m a sophmore at UNC-Chapel Hill…lookin to transfer out to NYU Stern.

I have a cummalative gpa of 3.67…

what do you guys think my odds are?

Does anyone have any info about adult students transferring in? I have looked at Columbia School of General Studies but didn’t know my chances at NYU.

Wow, really, biggyboy? I thought that graduating from a good business school (Marshall) with a good GPA and good work/internship experience shouldn’t affect where I wanted to work, whether I chose to stay in CA or work somewhere on the east coast…is this really true?

people who don’t watch sports think that usc is the university of south carolina, marshall is even more unfamiliar with the east coast

Haha, true. But i’m sure when applying for a job with a big corporation or something, they’ll know about USC and about Marshall, lol.

which dorms do transfers usually get put in?

it varies but transfers usually get ones that aren’t in very high demand (26th street, lafayette street are two i know of). transfers are not intentionally ‘grouped’ together though like in some schools (cornell).

hey guys…i posted a while ago but i think my stats are gonna be different than what i originally thought. i think my first semester gpa is gonna be around a 3.5, a little lower than i originally expected. i’m really nervous/disappointed because im pretty sure fall semester grades are all they look at for freshmen applying for spring '08. anyways i got into NYU’s stern when applying from high school and i’d now be applying as a comm major to steinhardt. any ideas on whether my chances have taken a serious hit thanks to the first semester gpa?

Here are my stats that i posted before:
Applying from Univ. of Southern California (Annenberg comm major) to Steinhardt (media, culture, and comm major)
SAT: Reading 730, Writing 730, Math 710
ACT: 32
High School GPA: 3.8
Lots of high school extracurriculars, a couple at my first semester at USC.
I got into NYU Stern (marketing) for the fall 2007 term but picked USC to major in comm

im basically praying high school still means something to them because i’m only a freshmen in college but i have a feeling college grades are by far the most important thing. sorry for the kinda insane length of this post!

i think you have a good chance! don’t worry 3.5 from USC def still makes you competitive for NYU.
just work hard on your app!!!

I am applying as transfer for NYU.

Hey, I was wondering what you guys thought my chances were. I thought about applying into CAS, but that’s just gonna smack me down. So preferably maybe into Gallatin or Steinhardt [Studio Art].

Currently I’m a freshman at UCRiverside.

The point of the matter is, is that i got two F’s my first quarter here. I mean, granted, I’m going to do the whole freshman forgiveness thing, and with all my summer classes i took, i can still pull off a 3.7 by the end of freshman year. with about 45 quarter units.

HS GPA: 3.3 (UW) 3.6 (W) (competitive prep school.)
ACT: 30
I was a part of ASB, and Varsity Cheerleading for 4 years. and year’s of work experience.

I don’t submit my SAT scores cause i only took it once and decided i loved the ACT much better. As far as the SAT II’s go, i’ll probably retake them. as i got a 580 in Bio, and a 610 in Math.

That’s all the basics. I know the two F’s will still appear on my transcipt, but considering its my first quarter of freshman year, and as it will NEVER happen again, what do you think my chances are of transfering as a sophomore of fall '08?

Or should i buffer it [the two F’s i mean] out with another semester/year, and apply spring '08 or as a junior '09?

Thanks for the input!
