NYU 2008 Transfer

Dang, letter already? Is this earlier because of the articulation agreement? I applied to Stern, btw. Are dates different for all the schools?

impressive, rachelsasao

looks like my chances at NYU will be slimmer if these are the applicants :p

Whoa, so you heard already? Wasn’t the deadline less than a week ago?

Hey how did you guys hear already? I applied to gallatin and i didn’t get any letter yet!

He is lying. NYU says they will send out letters starting next month.

I don’t think SHE’s lying. (unless he’s gay and has a hubby lol) The articulation agreement must have something to do with it. I’ve submitted my application through the Common Application and still haven’t heard anything from NYU, not even confirmation emails..

I don’t think she’s lying either. If you submitted your app before March 10th and had all of your materials in and filed around the 15th, a decision has already been made. I applied last year and had a midterm grade report request on March 21st meaning they already tried to make a decision.

It is possible that she received a likely letter if you put the articulation agreement and 4.0 into play. I’m not saying it’s definite but she only has 2 posts, why would she lie?

I thought NYU didn’t do rolling admissions.

I think I remember in the NYU saying that they wont read admissions until April 1st or May 1st, dont remember

but i do remember saying they wont start mailing till the middle of May

so i dont know

Hey guys..I have a question about application status.

I also applied to Steinhardt school and submitted my online app around March 20th and sent all of my materials in one envelope around March 20th also.
I also got a confirmation email with NYU ID number.

I called NYU last Thursday to check my app status.
However, she said “we have your app, SAT score and TOEFL only”.
I asked her what happened and she said she has no idea where my other
materials are…:frowning:
She said “it can be in our mailing system or we can miss your materials cuz we received tons of documents. you need to understand us. plz check later.”

It’s around 3 weeks I sent other materials, but I can’t check my app status still:(

Someone got already admitted in this forum and I also applied to Steinhardt communication..However, I can’t still my app status.

What am I gonna do?..do I have to just wait?? :(

I sent my app in jan and all my material was send in by feb. So i dont know why i didnt get anything yet.

I believe NYU says they send out letters in mid May so when people receive it then, they won’t be surprised at the long wait. I think (and have seen from discussion boards) that they normally send out letter weeks before they say they do.

The way I found out was sort of by accident. I simply emailed an NYU dude I’ve been keeping in contact with if everything in my application had been sent in. He said enough was in for me to get accepted! My admissions package will be sent in a couple days. I emailed him back right away giving thanks, and making sure that he sent the email to the right person. He said -yup, I promise.-

I also applied in early February. Even though they may not technically do rolling admissions, I think that they would certainly look into early completed applications first.

But I can’t tell you how excited I am! I’ve been wanting to go to NYU for years now, and I dragged my behind through community college for it. I also went through a CCTOP scholarship program, so I’ll see soon with my package how much financial aid I’ll be getting.

Oh, yes, and I am a girl, and I live with my husband in Brooklyn.

*By the way, as I mentioned before, I never took any SATs before, and my high school transcript was dreadful. I mean, they really must not look at your high school record.

Congratulation, I hope they send me a letter pretty soon. I can’t wait any longer. Can you give me the email of that guy? lol!

Thanks for clarifying, Rachel, and congratulations!

Oh god!!!

I called NYU to check my app status a few minutes ago.
She told me they are missing the whole of my other materials such as a college transcript,hs transcript and recommendations.

It really sucks!!!

I applied. I have a crap GPA (3.4), so I’m not holding my breath.

“Notification dates vary somewhat depending on the school or program, but at this time, we expect that transfer admission decisions will be mailed beginning in early- to mid-May.”

Thats directly from their admission home page. So some of us might be getting letters in early May.

i still havent got my 4th email.. is anyone else having the same situation?

Also here are my stats.. how are my chances?

Stevens Institute of Technology
GPA 3.8
HS GPA: 3.5
SAT (Horrible): 1780

I have all the prereqs. My school has a program where we can take NYU classes for free. I am taking their Expository writing class (Writing the Essay) and my midterm grade was an A-.

I do a lot of volunteering. I spend most of my time at my youth group playing drums and mentoring and I am a proud volunteer of UNICEF.

I feel that my essay is strong. my rec was from my professor who received his phD from Columbia.

Thanks

I still cannot check my app status except online app, TOEFL and SAT score even if I sent other materials in the middle of March.
I am pretty worried whether they miss my materials.

A few days ago, a representative told me they missed my materials and wanted me to send again, but today I checked again over the phone and another representative said she has no idea where my other materials are now. (She also said it can be in our mailing system or somewhere in the office.)
Therefore, she wanted me to check after 2 weeks.

I think NYU gets all of the documents into files too late..

Does anybody check an application status over the phone??
If yes, when did you send an application and other materials??
