m.kenien , I am in the same standing as vedder2993 ( 45 Credits) and applied to stern for junior standing …but I havent recieved any mid term report request. Is that bad?

Here’s a relevant answer from the NYU message boards:

“We probably would not ask for grades in a clear-cut sitaution, either positive or negative. We do ask fo mid-terms in quite a few cases, but we have not as yet started to read transfer applicaitns since we haven;t even gotten to the deadline date yet.”

Are my chances to NYU realistic? Or shud i wait for my rejection.

Has anyone who applied to steinhardt heard yet? (they mail out decisions by college) also—big/small envelope?

I just got my letter from CAS today. Little skinny guy with a rejection inside. oh well.

The letter said that over 4250 students applied for transfer this year…wow

You already got it. When did you apply?

early march.

I have quite a situation on my record though so most likely, I was quickly rejected. others may have some wait time if they are being seriously considered by the admissions committee. I am also not sure if anything I am saying right now has any validity.

I apply in early Jan and havent recieved anything yet. So I hope I’m still being considered.

hey adam what are you stats if you dont mind me asking?

im pretty sure i got rejected anyway

does NYU care/take into consideration honors courses taken? or TAP completion (not directly but maybe a little more “weight” on your app)

Um, I don’t know all my stats exactly but I can estimate…
High school GPA: 2.3 (already you guys should be doing better)
Current GPA: approx. a 3.65-3.7
credit amount: 48 completed, currently taking 15
took some honors courses in my major, took a wide range of classes, some of which were difficult I guess (calc I and II, honors macro/honors microeconomics, cross enrolled from my CC to take a major course at UPITT (currently have a B+))
EC: vice president of poli-sci club, judge of elections for 4 years, 25 hours a week work schedule, still founding a political science/economics newsletter.
Never “officially” visited or signed up for anything to show interest.

oh, and just to prove that my stats wont relate to most of you guys, I was suspended from high-school multiple times, and was suspended from my first college for one year for disciplinary reasons…live and learn eh?

don’t you guys worry, I wasn’t super qualified to go. if you have the stuff they wanna see, you will have a good shot I’m sure.

spoke to admission office- we should hear during the next two weeks-

chance me?
3.8 college GPA
3.0 HS
low SATS (bellow 1300 above 1100)

ACCEPTED (I needed to know by May 1st so they sped up the decision process for me, calling me up personally today)
3.96 college GPA (SUNY-Purchase)
3.8 HS
low ACT (26)
CAS – Economics
my h.s. transcript was missing until last friday
I’m ecstatic!!!

ah, yes, to add, my SAT scores were a 1290 or 1300 or something.

good job gexxman

Gexxman. So if you need it sped do you just called them and tell them why you need it to sped it up.

AdamM412, just out of curiosity… what did you do?

Yes, they will speed the decision making process if you have a reason (i.e., a college deadline of May 1st). I spoke to a really nice secretary, who, unfortunately, won’t be back until Wednesday, so I am unsure if you call them a different person will budge. I had 52 credits, so I was applying for junior standing, if that should make any difference.

I hope that doesnt make a difference because I’m applying for sophomore standing.

stern harder to get in than econ?

and do they give u any brownie points for honors courses/certs?

I’d say its safe to assume its easier applying for sophomore standing cause I would imagine that they have more spots open as opposed to junior standing for which the class has already been filled with original freshman applicants and transfer applicants the previous year.
