jcfisher21, when did you submit your application?

I just got rejected today from nyu.

Gallatin?

with a 3.4?

when did you apply?

i thought 3.4 was like the average too

I highly doubt that decisions will get mailed out as early as people are anticipating. I just spoke with an admissions officer today and she said, without hesitation, mid-to-late May

yep with a 3.42 i got rejected. Nope I got the letter today. Maybe it goes by school

I submitted it around mid-Feb, but all my materials weren’t in until about mid March.

Don’t feel bad, nyu44. I got rejected with a 3.96! NYU’s gotten fierce with competition this year.

I guess I still have Boston College to hear from. Let’s hope I get in there.

unless your a major city fan, youll probably have fun parties in boston at least

nyu44, i’m at BU. did you apply there? i never applied to BC because of the theology requirement.

oh and to correct my original statement about decisions coming later, i was kind of referring to acceptances. i don’t think [stern] acceptances will know early. they were pretty adamant about their time frame. who knows, though.

nope never thought about BU. I think i should just give up on BC because it’s supposed to be a better school than NYU.

BC? no way, dude. keep your chin up.

jcfisher why did u get rejected witha 3.96?
do all ur pre-reqs?

also what school did u apply from?

thank you. i will.

Not by a long shot. NYU is tops in business (second to Wharton), economics (CAS’s most selective major), film (Tisch) and law (they just stole three top professors from Columbia). BC’s business doesn’t stand anywhere near NYU. I don’t even know of any reputable money-making majors at BC. It’s ranked 4 spots under NYU as well.

Their transfer process is more selective because of evident grade deflation during freshman year to prevent people from leaving and increasing retention.

3.42 is not average for Gallatin. It hovers around 3.6 (according to NYU’s Infopop boards regarding selectivity in the Gallatin forums).

Best of luck with your other schools, though. It’s not over yet.

If pre-reqs are a concern, I’m screwed. Accounting courses aren’t offered to business majors freshmen year at BU. Also, allow me to add (being a BU SMG student), the grade deflation is infamous at BU, not BC. google or wikipedia “grade deflation” and see what comes up.

here’s an old thread that may be relevant now (although, allow me to say as an SMG student, i do not rant and rave for SMG.):
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/113428-bc-vs-bu-vs-nyu.html

Im going for communication. Yeah and I heard BC was pretty good for their comm program. I mean I kind of over it now. Now as i think about it, I wont be 200 grand in debt.

hey, keep going. I got rejected from UPitt and NYU but I’m not giving in. I’ve got two more letters coming and a spring transfer time coming up as well. keep going nyu44
