wow, i hope i get my decision on Monday

thats like 8 or 9 percent, still much higher than cas 3%

I’m sure that the applicants for Stern…nevermind.

Good luck everyone! Could be a BAD week.

Yeah, next week is going to be horrible…

Anyone know if they consider the writing score on the SAT?

do they email decisions??

I believe only international students receive e-mail decisons, and those who applied to CAS and were offered the opportunity to study abroad the 1st semester and then come back for the spring in NY

Hey,
I transferred to Stern this past year. As our transfer class was considered to be one of the largest (about 150ppl.), 95-100 does seem somewhat reasonable. Of course, admissions will over admit on a rolling-basis until all open spots are filled.

Good luck to those applying. If any questions, shoot them this way.

What set you apart as a candidate?

70 and 95 sounds really, really low. Maybe there’s some mistake? Last year they accepted well over 1,000 (says Collegeboard). Even if it is the most competitive year ever, there can’t be THAT big of a drop off.

Best of luck to everyone, I hope the stiff competition trails off a little next year when I apply. :).

Olives, 1000 seems to high - wasn’t it for freshmen?
When I talked to an admission counselor in person during an open house, she also told me there would be around 70-100 spots open…

transfernow, how has been your experience in Stern so far? Is it worth the money going there? I’m little concerned about ending up $50 000 in debt after i graduate… :/

yaaay, we are coming close to 1000 posts!!! :)

Can anyone comment on the # of slots for steinhardt transfers? (if possible)
good luck studying everyone

NYUdreamer.

From CollegeBoard: Transfer Students
Total number of transfer students who applied: 5,390
Total number of transfer students who were admitted: 1,416

That’s all the schools included, but to me the numbers seem pretty low.

hmm, i guess it makes sense for the whole school…if we knew all the spots for each school, we could put it together…

well, first of all, I anticipate numbers being lower this year. Additionally, we know that CAS has 70 spots and Stern has 95. We can work through the spots, the general retention rate for transfer accepted…it seems like a lot are missing…

There has to be a mistake with the 70 for CAS numbers. The 95 for Stern seem reasonable, but CAS gets the most applicants and has the most students at NYU. Even if the number of acceptances dropped by 600 to ~800, there is no way the other 635 students are going to the other schools in NYU. And if they were to accept less than 800 students, say 500, that drop would be almost a 1000 students accepted and that is highly unreasonable. In fact, dropping 600 in itself is a very large amount. I think the numbers are definitely skewed or being misinterpreted or something.

Who knows though, I could be wrong. But for all of us who have been on this thread for the past month, I hope not.

Yeah, I definitely agree. I think it’s a ridiculous number as well.

i think they accept more than the number of open spots in case some transfers are not going because they got into something better or for whatever reason decide not to go… however they have a waiting list for freshman so i dont know! =X

To those of you who are doubting the CAS numbers, this is the beginning of the acceptance email I was sent:

“We have finished our review of transfer applications for the College of Arts and Science for September entry. We received close to 1,800 applications for only 70 transfer spaces. Needless to say, we are unable to offer admission to a substantial number of highly qualified students whom we would be delighted to see enroll at NYU.”

Again, I assume they admitted something like 100, making the acceptance rate about 5.5%. It is important to note that this is JUST referring to spots in New York City. I was not one of these accepted people, but rather got the option to study abroad in Prague for the first (fall) semester. They were looking to fill a handful of spots in Prague and Florence. If you categorize me as being “accepted” along with the rest of the people that got this option, then the acceptance rate was probably around 10%–I have no idea, though. I would think that it is safe to assume that all of those study abroad emails were sent out at the same time as mine.

Good luck to everyone that has yet to hear. I’m an example of a relatively low GPA admittance (3.3) so don’t give up hope!

What major are you mike?
