NYU 2008 Transfer

Hey all you accepted transfers, I created an NYU Transfer Group on Facebook. Feel free to join

[Login | Facebook](Facebook)

Hey andy does it increase your chances if you apply to NYU multiple times?

is the letter sent to your mailling address or home address?

Denied to CLAS today. Whatever.

stewartudall and inkofivixx…the other reason why I need to hear the decision is I am an intl student who lives outside of the US. Therefore, It takes much time to receive the decision letter (around two weeks, if they send a regular mail.)..It makes me worried and annoyed. Anyway, thanx for the compliment!!..lol..

The other school which I applied to makes me worried and annoyed a lot!!!
She said almost all of the applications has been made already and decision letters already sent out last week, besides mine. My app is still under review.

She was planning to send me an email to tell me ‘when can I hear the decision thing’ on Monday, but she didn’t send an email.
So I called again in the morning today and she said she can’t hear that information from a transfer counselor yet and will send me an email ‘later today’ after getting some information from a transfer counselor.
However, I didn’t get any email from her again!!!

It makes me really nervous. something wrong on my app??..I have no idea what’s going to happen on my app.
I don’t know what am I gonna do…:(

the admissions counselor to whom i’ve been speaking said that my decision went out today and i should receive it…in a couple of weeks? looks like you and i are in the same boat chocola. and i’m just from the midwest. :-P

inkofvixx, can you login NYU home?

hrm. What classifies as logging in? I mean, it does say that “Only current members of the NYU community can use this function.” Hahaha, doesn’t sound like i can log in.

I won’t take that as any indicator of acceptance or rejection though.

I agree with inkofvixx…
They said the decision has been made on my app on Monday, but I haven’t received an official decision by email. (I am an intl student.) even if I can login NYU home.

inkofvixx…did you apply to other schools besides NYU??

I applied to other 3 schools, but I haven’t heard any decisions!!!..
Especially, one of the schools makes me annoyed and nervous like I said before..

Hey guys. I have recently found about this website and its been fun to join.

I applied to Stern.

I have a question to ask. How much water does it hold to claim that NYU is all about money, that they would rather take someone who is rich than poor, given the two possess roughly equal credentials? Or is this just another misconception targeted at a certain school?

And to those accepted, first Congrats!! Did you guys all receive request for midterm grades? I personally have not gotten one. Does this matter as to say that I am one of those disadvantaged? I do think so but…it is interesting because on the nyu bullentin board, someone asked the same question and the reply was as that we should not take this too seriously because they are just looking to see current classes taken by an applicant match their classes to give credit. Or is this just a slick lie not to make you feel down or anything be4 getting a decision?

To those nonaccpeted. Cheer up. This is not the end of the world. I will most likely join you guys as I just checked that my decision is on the way.

NYU takes forever to give out transfer decisions. It sucks, but it happens to everyone. Don’t stress out.

NYU is NEED-BLIND when it comes to admission. I’m completely broke, and am here on student loans.

It doesn’t necessarily help you or hurt you that you applied to NYU several times. I applied three times, first in high school, than twice as a transfer, and then finally got in. If you hate bad grades the first time, then showed significant improvement (and by significant I mean 3.4 and higher, usually in the 3.7 range), then do re-apply.

NYU isn’t as amazing as you picture it to be, so don’t disillusion yourself. You’re treated like a number, you have mostly adjunct professors (part-time faculty) or TA’s teaching your class, and your financial aid package is going to be horrendous as a transfer. However, if this doesn’t deter you, then by all means go after NYU. Just have realistic expectations. If you don’t get in, there are PLENTY of much better choices out there. Trust me. I wanted to go here for ages, and now that I’m finally here, I’m starting to think that sometimes what you want isn’t exactly what you need.

There is NOTHING wrong with most of your applications. NYU just takes forever to get back to students on anything (including their current ones!) so don’t stress unless they e-mail you saying you’re missing something.

In addition, don’t harass the admissions office, because they DO log calls, and they will get annoyed with you eventually if you do so.

That being said, I’d be glad to help or answer any questions that you guys may have about the transferring process at NYU.

And if you aren’t accepted, I promise that its not the end of the world!!! :)

If you are accepted, here’s the NYU transfer thread I made on facebook. I’ll be sure to plan some events for incoming transfers to meet one another.

[Login | Facebook](Facebook)

Good luck guys! :)

there is a NYU page to login?

wish they set up an online system like USC

chocola, i applied to UPenn Wharton as well. no word from them either.

hey infovixx are u a junior transfer applicant?

This sucks!!..I just spoke with one of the Steinhardt counselor and I explained my situation..sending a deposit to another school thing..

I asked him to tell the decision over the phone. However, he said he can’t do that. So, I said I haven’t received the decision by email and I asked him to send me an email about the decision cuz NYU has to send decisions intl students by email. (It’s one of their policies.)

However, he said they don’t send the decision by email at this time (or moment) even for intl students.
He said to me “just waiting for the mail”

A rerular mail will take about 15~20 days cuz I live outside of the US.
When can I hear the decision!!!..around in the beginning of June!!!

As a former transfer, NYU does not tell decisions over the phone. Its a B.S. policy in excruciating circumstances, but they don’t plan on changing it anytime soon. Anyhow guys, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO LOGIN TO NYU HOME. Other kids did last year and some got their admissions rescinded. Ye be warned.

I’m a sophomore applicant. That stinks about NYU home. curiosity killed the cat.

chocola(or whatever your username is sorry haha)
I would suggest just waiting and putting a deposit down at another institution. The majority of steinhardt decisions have not been made yet, and it seems like the admissions office is working VERY HARD to tells us as soon as possible. dont give up hope, and good luck. NYU home- i dont think its a problem to log in, just dont create an account. Anyways… Good luck everyone! I still haven’t heard yet but I am not loosing hope. Just be patient, and hopefully we will all get some good news later this week.

lalafaye…the counselor told me the decision has been made on my app when I called on Monday.
