No one should think they’re going to get straight up rejected based off gpa. Some kid in this thread a few pages back was admitted to CAS for Fall 08 with a 3.3 gpa. They wouldn’t ask for reccomendation letters, and require you to write detailed essays if they were going to base everything off numbers.

Congrats David…!!!..I hope we’ll meet at NYU steinhardt..:)..

Thanks Chocola! It’ll be interesting if we even have classes together =)

Last, I was admitted with a 3.4 GPA. It was only 1, 4 credit class that dragged my GPA down. I wasn’t a strong high school student. In fact, if it wasn’t for me playing on the basketball team who knows what kind of grades I would have gotten. But, I wrote a strong essay, did very well at Community College, had great reccomendations…so its very possible.

I hope you enjoy NYU. I can’t afford 50K a year myself =/. Have fun though.

hey thanks for the encouragement but im not too into NYU. i actually like my current college atmosphere better but the location is a bit shabby…but then for a better career and my parents’ insistence i guess it will have to do if i get in. btw i failed classes in high school before i dont think it will look nice

David…is NYU your first choice??

call me crazy chocola but nyu was my only choice. I didnt want to go anywhere else

hahaha…it sounds you have grown up in NYC. am I right???
Are you planning to live a NYU dorm or off-campus??
or are you a commuter??

Lastheadline, I failed some classes in HS too, but in college i did better. I think if you improved it collegethey will see that as a positive. My parents also want me to go to NYU, but I am afraid that if i do get in the aid package will be crazy. =[

Good luck to everyone still waiting for decisions.

Chocola NYC is my world… I love to travel and all but there really is nowhere like it. I’m still trying to figure the dorm part out. I was more thinking along the lines of my own apartment.

Which other schools did you apply to?

I am still waiting for the decisions from Trinity and Brandeis.

If I go to NYU, I’m planning to live off-campus even if it is my first time to go to NYC in my life!!!.
If I finally decide to go to NYU, can I ask you which places are good places to live in NYC??..:)

chocla if you log into nyu home… They apartment listings around nyu’s campus. Some advice… Nyc is not so much the melting pot everyone says. Of diverse yea, but each ethnicity usually lives in thier own small communities. So it depends would you rather a sense of familiarity or you want to totally branch out. The village (greenich vilage) is a great place for the nyu experience

I mean a great place for the NYC experience

It’s hard to say. Depends if you believe this theory. So far, those who could login were accepted and those who couldn’t were not. I cannot login but still waiting for my decision. On Monday, they told me i should receive it in few days so who knows where it got stuck…

yep, i agree…those who get accepted automatically go create their account so it has to be enabled for them…anyways, we’ll find out soon

has anyone who applied to Stern recieved a decision yet?

I haven’t yet, but there’s been a few rejections.

i have attempted the nyu login numerous times , only in vain.

i dont think i ll get through stern now.

I don’t think attempting to use the NYU Login is such a good thing to do. They’re still reviewing apps, and it’s quite possible they haven’t reviewed any yours yet, unless you’ve been informed otherwise. If you’ve attempted to login without being reviewed yet, ofcourse you’re going to be denied access; but it probaly won’t look too good once you come up for review.

omg omg! i just received a call from my parents! i got big but wet envelope from nyu. i hope they arent joking because i was like 99.9% i would be rejected. i expect a call from nyu soon saying oops sorry you were supposed to be rejected. lol i dont get it, economics at CAS is a harder major to get in right? if this is true, i think it is because of my A grades at economics courses here at stony, my top-notched math grades, continued leadership positions (even though i didnt really do much in them), and my genuine answers in my statements and essay… im sure they overlook my um failling spanish grades in my early high school career. i admit i wasnt really excited about nyu but right now i pretty excited ugh. lol cant wait to pack up and go home =X
