NYU 2008 Transfer

FYI I had a friend who just got accepted to Tisch yesterday. He’s one of the best writers I know, though.

Brief stats:
2090 SAT
3.5 HS GPA
3.7-3.8 College GPA

I hate this wait. I would like to know where I’m going to be in four months now. I hate the uncertainty. I wonder how long it will take them to make a decision after they have received my spring grades.

Hey everyone, just an FYI - If anyone of you guys are interested in an powerful event that took place recently check this out.

[Pangea Day - May 10, 2008: A Global Film Event Harnessing the Power of Film to Inspire and Compel Social Change](http://www.pangeaday.org) It’s about transforming lives and people through film. A lot of celebs signed onto this cause, its a lame gimme, but hopefully someone here will too.

Check out, let me know what you guys think. -Dave

Hey all,

I got accepted into Tisch for film production. 3.95 GPA, most of the GEs fulfilled except for math. I had some relevant extra curriculars as well.

just a question for all the accepted students

how is paying for NYU looking for you, is it going to be easy or hard with the financial aid you received?

Cali - I’m expecting a scholarship from 20-25k. The rest is a mix of student loans and paying myself. But i haven’t received any fin aid packages yet. I’d have to make a phone call tomorrow.

i called and got my financial aid package a few days ago. from what they told me, i have no idea how i’m going to afford it. i go to a school that is arguably better (in terms of academics) than nyu, and my financial aid is 5x what nyu offered me. the school i go to now doesn’t even have loans, so i was surprised when they told me that even counted as financial aid–since you still have to pay it back and all. i want to go to nyu soooo badly, but if i do, i’m going to graduate with a ton of debt. its just making this whole situation ten times more complicated. hope the rest of you have better luck…

when you say everyone got into Steindhardt communications what do you mean? I want to do communications/PR at NYU so do you think I should apply to Steindhardt communications when I apply to transfer next april or Gallatin?

im worried about stern, does anyone know when they release their decisions?

im eagerly waiting for stern letter, but still nothing (havent checked today yet).

btw, david, you think you will get that much in scholarships? i read somewhere they dont give hardly anything to transfers

i can finally login!

dreamer, you may want to check with NYU to see if they send it to the wrong address or to send another letter if they told you they have already sent it at least a week ago

lastheadline, were you accepted already? (im assuming yes, i just wanna make sure) if yeah, how did you find out?

yep, i’m planning on calling them today because it doesn’t take over a week to get it when i live in PA. How do they send it - priority or first class? and do you know why you couldn’t login before?

hey Ucb I’m kind of replying on the run from my cell but google the cctop scholarship. Its the program I applied under. Originally I wanted to major in journalism and apply to CAs but I found through this program a double major of journalism/comm is one of the few they allow between CAs and steinhardt

i just read my decision.. waitlisted.. my hands are shaking

Just received my decision via email.

Waitlisted. Anyone know the statistics for this year’s admissions process (i.e. how many people were waitlisted?)

waitlisted for which schools? I didn’t even think they waitlisted transfers because it’s so late…

College of Arts and Sciences.

“You will receive notification of your final status as soon as possible after June 1, 2008, but not later than July 1, 2008. Students admitted from the Wait List will be considered for financial aid and campus housing.”

If/when you opt to take a spot on the waitlist, you’re prompted to enter your NYU ID (which they give you in the email), and as well, they ask you to please send final grades as it could help “Expedite the process”.

Interesting bit about the NYU ID though. Perhaps that’s why they didn’t want people trying the NYU id trick that’s been discussed to death on this forum? I never tried it, but I do wonder if it would’ve worked for waitlisted students.

blackhole, yes i am accepted. lol i kinda thought it was a mistake, my stats arent particularly awesome. my parents call me from home to tell me the news. i even had them send a picture of the letter. i still have finals to study for so i cant go home yet to actually see the letter yet but im 99.9% sure it is true.

dreamer, i dont know why. i guess they activated it late for me.
