Good idea, but is it worth the risk of potentially having the two schools check-up on you with each other?

Vicky, you can always put in a deposit at stern, and if you get into Northwestern, you can withdrawal the deposit from Stern. I did that when I was applying to colleges.

thanks,Serenityhope!

Hey, Wmplax, or anybody else that’s going to Gallatin, what did you guys write about for the extra personal statement thing.

Anyone care to share? Thanks. :)

hey, all.

people that were accepted: where are you planning on housing? on or off campus? if on…what’s supposed to be decent?

also, if you were accepted to stern: is anyone familiar enough with the campus that they know what the closest on campus residency is to stern?

thanks!

I did not even send in a normal essay to NYU. I wrote one, but I hated it. So I just wrote the extra Gallatin thing for them in like 5 minutes, and wrote “this was written in response to”, and I got in. Just explain why you want to go there instead of a more normal school.

How is Gallatin even pronounced? Like “GAL luh tin,” “guh LA tin” or what? I would pretend I’m a native Spanish speaker and say “guy YA teen” but mi espanol is not that good.

Olives–I just talked about how I wanted to formally create a synthesis between my classroom work and my ongoing extracurricular interests; I didn’t do any of that crap of “telling a story” with my essay or anything like that, just straight up “this is why I want to be there and here is the proof.”

akp–I think I’m heading to Water Street.

I also want to live in Water if I go to NYU; I think I won’t go there though. I went to visit Tulane and I LOVED it. Like for realz.

For the waitlisted, anybody heard anything?

No problem, Vicky, but just keep in mind that you will lose your deposit money.

lol, I say GAL li tin. But I’m probably wrong.

Thanks guys. :)

I heard that transfer students live in either 26th (bad), lafayette, cliff or water. I also want water, i hear the rooms are big… I was also told that transfer students dont get put to live with other transfers which really sucks!!

Has anyone heard word from NYU living on the west coast that was waitlisted?

I think they should be sending out decisions soon. I was told around June.

Well, I have a 4.0 GPA, valedictorian, many EC activities, awards, etc. I was rejected by NYU. My friend who has a GED and a 3.5 GPA has an interview with them in a few days.

I know of several students in their 20’s with lower GPAs who were accepted while students in their 30’s with higher GPAs, honors, etc. were rejected.

Has anyone else noticed this among their friends?

uh… for grad school?

No, as a transfer for a bachelors degree.

The detriment of affirmative action to Asian students applying to top colleges has been well-documented, yet people still refuse to acknowledge the data. Therefore, I don’t think anyone will be convinced that NYU is ageist based on limited anecdotal evidence.

so my financial aid package was finally made available today, and it was terrible. no grants from the school, only a $3,000/semester stern scholarship and a bunch of suggested loans. did NYU run out of money or is there hope of receiving more aid in the future?
