NYU 2008 Transfer

Lalafaye, it’s 64 for Gallatin. I’d assume it’s the same max for all the programs.

Congrats to both of you!!
hopefully i will get mine tom.

Does anyone know what kinds of tests (level of difficulty, etc.) we have to take at orientation? Congrats to whoever just got accepted!

hey love3equalshate, my high school was just mediocre.. or worse lol.. 1840 SAT, 3.85 gpa

college gpa was 3.6 (lol it’s down to a 3.4 now coz i got a D in sats for spring, thank god they didnt see my final transcript yet before they made the decision lol) but i had extremely good activities.. i was the president of one org, established anothr, worked with the dean and stuff.. also i was in business school but for nyu, i applied for CAS..

im planning a trip there tomorrow actually.. just walking around the campus (not with tours or anything), just me.. it should be fun.. i love new york i was jsut there yesterday

congrats to those who got in and keep hoping to those who havent heard yet.. you know what my deal was, the day i let go of the whole idea of transfering and accepted my old school (after 2years of hating it and working hard to get out), that was the day i heard from nyu.

so it’s all gonna work out guys! now, im actually terrfied of going there

oh and thanks to eveyone for the congrats :)

congrats to everyone! Just a question for those who got it. How did you receive the package? Was it fed ex, or regular postal? I missed you “package letter.” It was from the post office.

A friend of mine has a question about the spring semester @ NYU program. Anybody know when the deadline is for that?

Yeah for early decision its October 15, but you can turn it in as early as the 15th of september. It’s rolling admissions, so the earlier you turn it in the better chance you have. They let you know 2-3 weeks after you submit the app, even if it’s before the deadline.

Love3qualsHate- Thanks.

do u guys know where i can go for scholarships. i have to take out 15,000 in loan each sem for nyu. what the hell

Congrats to everyone accepted. I wonder if anyone attended the June 19th Orientation. I may have just skipped some of you by not even knowing.

Lala - the writing test at orientation was a cinch! Probably one of the easiest tests I’ve ever taken in my life. Don’t even sweat it at all.

Blackholez - I got this Phi Theta Kappa loan from Chase for 17,000. About half of it will go to tuition and the other half will go to housing.

Hey, so I posted to the NYU transfer page on facebook and figured I would ask here as well: does anyone know what the “R” stands for (in regards to day of the week) while browsing Albert for classes? The other abbreviations are pretty obvious, and yet I feel as though I am missing something with this ambiguous “R”…

wmplax: R stands for Thursday since T is already taken by Tuesday.

how did you guys register?? i sent my deposit and course description last monday.. i havent heard anything yet though.. im in CAS.. whats the next step??

thnks!!

Ck–that’s what a I figured, yet there is also a TR, which I took to mean ThuRsday…so I don’t know

wm - TR means Tuesday and Thursday

Oh holy hell…that seems rather obvious now. Well, thanks for the clarfication.

DOes anyone know how many transfer’s does Stern take every year? and does it help if u were waitlisted when u applied as a freshman while in HS ?

Hey guys, I just completed my freshman year as an International Studentat the University of Rochester. I’m planning to transfer to NYU’s CAS Program for early admission for the Spring Semester starting January 2009, because I can’t really live in such a rural environment, considering I’ve lived in a large city all my life.

Stats:

First Semester GPA - 2.9 for 16 credits. Not good I know, but I have a ‘somewhat’ valid excuse - I strained my ankle ligaments really badly in early October, and was on crutches for over a month. During that time, walking was so painful, and for days I would have constant ankle pain. I know it’s not really a valid excuse, but it really did affect my settling into a new school, and a new country.

Second Semester GPA - 3.54 for 22 credits. I feel this semester was much stronger, as I started to adapt to school more and more.

Overall GPA - 3.27.

SAT 1

750 CR
680 Math
650 Writing

SAT 2

780 Bio
630 Literature :(

TOEFL

280/300 for Computer Test

Others:

Piano Grade 8 with Merit, played double bass for High School Orchestra, sang in the High School Choir, plays drums and guitar, played JV basketball, currently working as an intern at a local university.

What do you reckon my chances are for early admissions? My first semester was terrible, but I really hope they can take my experiences into account when they make my decision.

iacmynad, I really dont think you have a good chance. Your GPA is too low. People who transfer in usually has 3.6. or higher
