hey! I’m planning on applying ED to NYU too! I’m also trying to do the precollege program this summer because I just really want to be able to get a chance to experience NYU if I don’t get in ED. Do you guys think that doing the precollege program looks good when applying ED though?
@goldfishy19 I’m not sure if it was just luck or if they were all extremely qualified but all my precollege friends who applied ED got in. If you do well in the classes it’s good for your application because then NYU already knows you can succeed academically at the school.

hey! NYU has been my dream school for as long as I can remember. I’m really hoping I could do the precollege program they offer during the summer. As of right now, I want to major in Applied Psychology and minor in Creative Writing
@heyitsmaddiek omg i was literally planning on doing the same exact thing, journalism+politics, is that a common double major that lots of people do?

Hi everyone I’m so happy I found this thread. Just finished junior year and I’m starting the common app for all schools, NYU is definitely top choice by ED. I want to major in MCC (Media, Culture, Communications) and minor in Film and Television. I’m so nervous and excited and anxiously watching YouTube videos about NYU…

So I’m planning on applying to CAS for a double major in journalism and political science. I took the SAT once back in October and scored a 1320 and I’m going to be taking it again in august and am planning on studying a lot over the summer to hopefully get it up to a 1400. Do you think a 1320 is good enough for CAS though? I’m also going to be putting down LSP as a second choice so do you think if my SAT score doesn’t improve as much as I would like it, it is at least good enough to get me into LSP?
I already have a commonapp account, but when does it officially open for the students applying for Fall of 2018?
i know a person who have gotten into steinhardt with a 1290 SAT (roughly). thought its not the case for everyone, your SAT score seems good for CAS
Does anyone know if NYU is releasing special essays? Or if they just want your basic common app essay?
I’m pretty sure you’re also supposed to write an essay basically answering the question “Why NYU?” but idk for sure
hey guys! i got accepted to NYU CAS for the class of 2021, and i’ll be attending (!!! dream !!!) and i remember being in your exact spots, fretting and surfing these forums. if there is one crucial piece of advice i can tell you, it is to not get too caught up in the stats of others on this site for NYU. one of the reasons NYU is so awesome is because they really do want unique individuals who have something to offer besides just good objective scores. so, please do not stress if you read about others with higher test scores or GPAs than you.
also, in terms of what you need to write for NYU, i cannot remember if there were any short answer questions, but in addition to the common app essay, you do submit a “Why NYU?” essay, which should just be written from the heart. for that one, i didn’t even “prep”- i just wrote about why NYU would be the perfect fit for me.
i believe that NYU seeks individuals who are passionate and want to affect the world, so try to show that somewhere in your application!
if you want, i do not mind sharing my objective stats, so let me know if you want me to post them, but do not let my scores affect you personally!
