NYU 2022

@goldfishy19 I have my common app essay finished. I chose the identity prompt. It took me a while to decide on a topic and actually get my thoughts down on paper but I think my essay is stronger because of that. I suggest taking time to think it over and constantly write up new ideas. Eventually the right prompt and response will come to you.

Is anyone applying to Steinhart ED1 or considering Music Business? Also anyone want to share stats?

My stats are:

ACT composite: 29
English: 34
Reading: 30
Math: 25
Science: 26
Writing: 8

SAT composite: 1330
Reading/Writing: 690
Math: 640
Essay: 17

GPA: 3.6 or 93 unweighted

@HerNameisAmazon so I’m planning on applying ED 1 to CAS with a double major in journalism and political science. My gpa is 3.67 unweighted and as of right now my SAT score is 1330 with a 21 on the essay. I’m planning on taking the SAT again in two weeks to hopefully get my score to around 1380 because I know I can do better.

@Venice23 dude honestly kids at my school are like yeah I finished my essays over the summer and now am having my college friends that go to Berkeley read them for me

@goldfishy19 I wish you the best with your retakes! Your stats already sound great, and I’m sure the essays will come together soon

@HerNameisAmazon aw thanks! I hope it all works out for you too!

CAS class of 2021 here, I went through what you guys are going through last year, so here are a few things I want to say.

  1. Soon, rumors about the financial aid changes and housing portal changes will be going around, they mean nothing. Absolutely nothing. There are people who got all the changes and were rejected and people (like me) who had none of the changes and were accepted.

  2. Being in 35823496578026843702965423905 clubs and having 75438023765023650892675702374890 community service hours and being the captain of 478409567203741234675289 sports is good, but not necessary. Just have a couple of things to put on the common app and you should be ok. I played one sport and did 1 club and I still got in.

  3. People with 26s on the ACTs have been accepted and people with 33s have been rejected. Having a lower score is OK if you have something to make up for it. Remember, NYU is not an Ivy, not all 3 components (ECs, scores and GPA) have to be perfect, but if one is low, another should be higher than average to compensate.

  4. NYU does not release early decisions early, so you are going to have to wait for Dec 15 (EDI), Feb 15 (ED2). They may release RDs before Apr 1.

  5. If you get into NYU, they are unlikely to rescind acceptances after the mid-year report. I got mostly Cs as final grades and nothing happened.

  6. ED1 DOES increase acceptance chances, they want to see that this is your first choice school. If it is, apply ED1. I would have been rejected if I applied ED2 or RD.

  7. Good luck, feel free to ask me any questions, this is a tough time for HS seniors.

Is anyone here applying for Steinhardt’s Music Business undergraduate program?

other than business, does NYU have any other impacted majors?

@PrinceD You still have time to take the SAT again. I’m not going to sugar-coat anything, so I’m going to tell you that it’s going to be hard to get in with anything below 1300.

@dreamallthewayy your stats look good! Steinhardt seems like a perfect fit!

how important do you guys think the common app essay is?

is anyone writing about autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity in their supplement? I’m applying to the gallatin school

also i know a guy from our school with a 2.9 gpa and a 1110/1600 SAT score and got in stern bc quadruple legacy.

probably not as important as it is for other schools, as there is the supplemental essay as well.

I’m applying for different campuses because my intended major is offered virtually everywhere, do you know or can you give any insight into how NYU picks students for certain campuses? If you don’t know, that’s fine!

My question was intended for @johnc17 LOL! ^^^
