Is anyone in the NYU Abu Dhabi program? If so, how is your experience there, is it difficult to get in (compared to normal admissions), and how much traveling do you get to do? Also, how is it different from the “normal” NYU experience? Any opinions would be nice!!

Its very different from the normal NYU experience. Its not urban like the New York campus is and also very different due to its location. Its also the most selective university that their is with an acceptance rate of 2.1%.
It is not the same academically. But if you want to be constantly grabbed by Sunni Arabs, and their medieval mores, go for it.
I know this is a late reply but I have been admitted to NYUAD Class of 2020 from ED1 and am happy to share my opinion. I visited the campus during Candidate Weekend and it was absolutely beautiful, urban feel yet about 30 minutes outside of downtown Abu Dhabi. The student body is smaller, very selective, and there are more resources available to students. 4 to 1 student-faculty ratio and a tight-knit yet extremely diverse community from all over the world. Extensive opportunities to travel and study abroad through “semesters away” and “January terms”. And the financial aid is extremely generous. Let me know if you have any other questions about NYUAD!

mightychondria - what did you put down as why you were applying to nyuad. One of our friends said to stay away from saying that it is an excellent university near hometown (we live in Jordan) Any advice?
“excellent university near hometown” is being very broad and not being specific, you need to be more specific
Hmm well I think that you can say a lot of the reasons I mentioned above, things like the diversity, opportunities to travel, opportunities to work closely with faculty, academic prestige, resources available to students, etc. Maybe look through the NYUAD website and see if there are any specific programs or activities that catch your interest.
