I have to admit, I'm rather drawn to this idea based off of what I've read (which, okay, isn't too much). Being part of the inaugural class, in one of the booming urban centers in the Middle East, with what is likely to be a full scholarship - it just sounds like a fantastic adventure, haha. Like the early days of Olin College, except probably with slightly less talent and a lot more Lebanese food.

Has anybody else (particularly NYU students) heard anything else about this / have any opinion on it? :|

They won’t give you a full scholarship for going to NYUAD, the merit aid will probably be the same. There is no coherent reason as to why NYU would give you more merit money just for going to Abu Dhabi. At the least, Abu Dhabi would be more competitive.

The full scholarships, from what I have heard, are only meant for international students recruited to the school by representatives sent out specifically from NYU-Abu Dhabi since the entire site has been conceived of as this premier educational institution for international students.

I’m a little confused about what Abu Dhabi has to do with Lebanese food, though.

Actually, there was an interview by nyulocal with one of the NYU Abu Dubai directors and it was said that the fin. aid for it would be very generous. I can’t recall but I think it was a full ride if income was less than $80,000.

I’m very interested in seeing how admissions and enrollment will play out. I read somewhere that NYU is basically hand-picking the top students from around the world and encouraging them to apply - contacting their schools and arranging meetings and whatnot - so I daresay their applicant pool will be very impressive. But are the people admitted likely to actually /go/ to NYUAD, or will they choose to attend other prestigious universities that they will no doubt have been admitted to?

Anyway, I’ve been to Abu Dhabi and I remember having an inordinate amount of Lebanese food. It was delicious! I would go again just for their kebabs.

i know i’m applying. i’ve been looking at international universities anyway (american u of paris, one in greece, maybe others lol), and programs like Class Afloat, Semester at sea…
and i love middle eastern culture. egypt, oman, israel, ahhhh. food. close to desert. and really, DUBAIII!!!

Hello everyone! This is Silkesha from India. I am planning to apply for ED-2!
I would like to know who all(among those present here)are applying…would like to catch up with you all…either here or on FB…
Thank you,
Silkesha

My counselor was invited to NYU last year and she was told that all students accepted (at least those who were nominated) would get a free ride if their families made less than $200,000

I pray that I get into this school…this would be a dream come true…I applied E.D. II…
:-/ does anyone have any idea how many people are applying this year?

NYU AD is able to give much more on scholarship money because it is funded by the local government, not by the NYU endowment. Thus, the rumors of NYU having terrible financial aid are true - if you plan on attending in new york. For those of you looking for a different experience in AD, your costs should be minimal.

I hear great things about AD as a Nyu NYC student. If you want to go and get the opportunity, do it!

oh also…is there any other way to apply to NYUAD directly and not through selecting “the i want to be considered for NYUAD” option in the common app supplement for NYU NY?
i only want to apply to NYUAD…
