Thank you, guys!! It was good to read so many comments.
Everybody is interested in my stats… well, I haven’t taken any international examination like SAT, but my marks are outstanding and I sent them my national reports and things like that. My country has a very strong education, I think, so they might have based their opinion on this standard. I do many extracurricular activities and have participated in several international projects, I don’t really feel like listing them all, I just simply don’t like to pride myself on anything… we’ll see each other there in Abu Dhabi and you’ll get to know me. Fingers crossed for everyone without having an invitation received yet!!! Don’t give up, hope dies last and wonders happen all the time. Trust me, they do happen, indeed. So once again, sorry guys, I can’t provide you with my “international” stats… all you can expect is that I hopefully meet the requierements of NYU, otherwise they wouldn’t have invited me. ;)

That’s definitely not horrible news. First of all, it means that there are still invites to be made, so we all still have a chance. Secondly, at least now we know when the deadline is. If we dont have it by next Monday, we are guaranteed a rejection. Even though this sucks, at least it’s better than the agony of waiting and waiting.

It really hurts cuz those who I know that have also applicated to NYUAD have ALL got the invitation.

it’s sarcastic.

Just imagine how it can be…

nd it’s jus like the god standing there and scorning u ‘Oh my lil poor kid…u did worked hard but I dont give u the invitation jus dont wanna give u ahahahaha.’

somewhat like a negation of ur dilligence and ur sacrifice.

@Reconquista - how many people from your school (I think that’s what you mean by “people I know who applied”) have been invited? And are they all Chinese?

@Reconquista — Optimism is hard, but once gained is purely a blessing… so like the Crystal Method song, I’d say “Keep Hope Alive” and that also goes for all who still haven’t got invites yet.

I got it by E-Mail. I am not sure but now that I have filled all the required forms in they will send me a mail /package/ including more information in regard to the CW.

Anyone has their package received? Would you please kindly tell me what it contains? Thanks. I’m really interested and looking so forward to travel to Abu Dhabi. ;)

I’m invited for the december candidates weekend. Best wishes to all who haven’t yet heard from NYU Abu Dhabi.

Do you guys know approximate percentage of the acceptance rate of those who are invited to candidate weekends? I’m assuming it to be about 60~70%. Any ideas or stats?

Hmm… I wanna discuss with you guys what that percentage really means. 189 out of 275. I know that the invitations are sent regardless of whether one applied or not. Some students I know went to the november candidate weekend because their school nominated them. I’m not really sure whether they are interested or not, but it is a + factor for those who are invited and are considering NYU Abu Dhabi as their first choice.

Also, I read somewhere in this forum that a 11th grader applied and received the invitation, but he was rejected at the end. Do you guys think a candidate weekend is a serious factor in determining one’s acceptance? I’m guessing that those 86 who were rejected after a candidate weekend were just simply not as interested.

Can anyone comment on this? I can’t believe that NYUAD will be so unethically mean and ruthless that they will invite Early Decision 1 applicants, who indeed showed their desperateness applying as ED1, and finally tell some of them that they are not as good as their cohorts in a candidate weekend.

@awaaaa — I agree with some parts with you, I was one of those 86 rejects to NYUAD last year, since I made it to the CW, and was really interested that time, yet I still got rejected. I have to say that the CW is a big part of the admissions factor, and you’re assessed on a CW, I’m sure since you’re gonna attend one, you’ll know what I’m talking about. For the nominated people, it is a big chance that their acceptance is likely. I’m reapplying to NYUAD again, this time as ED-2, and yeah I’m still interested in the idea.

@awaaaa — Well mind telling where are you from? and your stats if possible, oh yh and I forgot to mention, try your best at the CW and enjoy it as well. hopefully you can get the acceptance then. :)
