NYU Abu Dhabi

@ eli

its prolly not a bad thing cuz my tutors and my host mother host dad nd so many elders all admonished me not to apply to NYUAD…but i made it, i applied to it via ED1.
though i’m rejected, i have just realized that maybe NYUAD is actually not a good match for me.
as a matter of fact i havnt got so many chances cuz i’v got no money.
And my school work for Chinese Abi is killing me. XD. But i dun care…

the god closed a door to us but will open another for us…LOL.

nd…eli, actually…u ‘should’ feel lucky that u r with russian nationality…

cuz u might not be able to imagine how cruel the competition between chinese students can be in the process of application…

but anyway…it’s a pitty that NYUAD doenst take us. LOL

Hey guys, Ive been accepted too. Good luck to those of you trying out for ED2 r Regular Decision. Although I am so so so so happy to be a part of NYUAD´15, Im so sad that some amazing people were rejected.

@elithefair & Reconquista – I feel really sad for you, you guys tried your best, but really, don’t put yourselves down because of this and like “Reconquista” said, a door closed leads to another open door, I’m sure you’ll find something good to cheer for in your future ahead, and I do believe, there will be a time in life when we’ll get to meet someday. Keep Hope Alive! :slight_smile: (You guys actually reminded me of the time when I got my decision about NYUAD back in last year, it was bad, but I had to get over it)
@nyuadhopeful – A big congrats to you, I’m sure its a great feeling out there. Hopefully, I’ll get to join you next fall, if I’m accepted. Let’s hope for the best now! :)

Murtaza, thanks! it’s all true…but still…
also…does anyone have any idea idea if I can apply ED2? I mean again! It’s crazy, but I know a Russian guy who was rejected ED1 last year, but he’s in nyuad now because he applied again by January,1.

hi everyone, im a hungarian student and am applying edii.
ive got a few questions :slight_smile:
i never took sat act or any standardised test… we only have a school leaving exam, but that isnt due till may… what should i do? i dont have anything to submit besides my transcript. also, the evaluations and transcripts can only be sent by mail? i mean it prob takes ages for them to get there…
anyone applying to ed2 too? :slight_smile:
thanks!

@makijoe ===
hi, I’m also applying ED-2. I also have never taken SAT or ACT, but as far as I know, they are not so important. Try to get good rec. letters and write a good essay.
yes, they want them to see in a paper. and about time, dont worry, send them before new year, and in january they will receive, they are just confirmations, you anyway are writing them on commonapp.
you cant do anything with your exams…
The only way to have chances is to do your best on other parts of your application.
Have you done extracurricular activities?

elithefair, Reconquista, I am so sorry, but you should hope for the best! I am sure that there is something good waiting for both of you in the future! don’t give up)

elithefair, really?! that’s possible… because i remember reading that if an ED I applicant is rejected he cannot apply as a RD, but there was nothing about ED II ))

makijoe, hey) i’m also applying ED II! hm… i actually thought that the rec letters could be submitted online… at least that’s what they say in the commonapp video… it seems like the whole point of the commonapp to me)

@makijoe: Hello! this is Silkesha :slight_smile:
I am applying for ED-2 as well…and about sending the evaluations and transcripts…it doesn’t really take ages…you could opt for a courier service such as DHL…they’d deliver your envelope to NY in just a day! :slight_smile:
Thank you and good luck!

@Reconquista and @elithefair: you seem like a bunch of amazing and interesting people to me!..a rejection shouldnt matter at all for you all!..there surely is some great stuff waiting for you guys, in the future! :slight_smile:

and yeh, elithefair…if thats possible, go for it!..that would indeed be great! :)

@makijoe – hey man, I’m applying EDII as well, about standardized tests, well if you have some sort of first semester/trimester exams, you should forward them the result, or you can ask school whether if they can send predicted grades if possible.
About recommendations etc., if your teacher/counselor can send forms online through CommonApp (you’ve to assign your teacher/counselor through the “School Forms” section and provide name and email, if you don’t give an email, then you’ll have to send your recommendations on paper, and the forms could be downloaded from there itself once assigned)… and regarding mail, well as Silkesha said, you can opt for courier services like DHL, but they do charge you a bit high, else you’ll have to settle for post mail. :)

has only three guys on this thread received letters about decisions?

@NewYorkUAD – LOL, no! All other who’ve applied ED-1 would’ve received their decisions by now, basically its an email sent to you containing your decision, you get a mail sent to you by post containing an official letter only in the case if you’re accepted.

I mean why dont others tell us about decisions. =)

I’m in too :)

@NewYorkUAD – well about that, prolly because they’re not on CollegeConfidential :stuck_out_tongue:
@Kiwikid – congrats mate! I hope that I get to see you next fall! :)

@Kiwikid: Congratulations! :slight_smile:
how was the CW?..and how was the overall application process?

hey all, i was on the first CW in November. i hadn’t applied yet, but i just send my ED2 app off today. if anyone is wondering about the process, feel free to ask.

also, for the kids i know from my weekend who applied ED1, about half got in and about half got flat out rejected. no deferrals.

@murtaza101 == mm I said on this thread =)
@KiwiKid === ooo so cool, congrazions!!!
