NYU Abu Dhabi

At my CW (Dec), we got a sheet listing CW’s for ED-II and RD, and it listed the two dates (both the Feb ones) for ED-II. RD candidates also have the option of March. The 2nd CW does end 1-2 days before the admissions decision so in theory there would be enough time to fit it in.

On the other hand, the NYUAD website only lists one CW for ED-II. But the sheet we got at the CW would have been more updated, so… (the student commitment on date on the NYUAD website was also different to what we got when we were accepted - that suggests to me that the website hasn’t been updated yet).

I don’t think 2 weeks is enough to read over an application - so I do think the Feb 24-27 CW would also work for ED-II. The first CW is probably for those who submit well before the Jan 1 deadline.

So don’t give up hope if you don’t get contacted by mid-January!!! Best of luck!

I remember that previously, they did list both Feb CWs for ED-II, but also, I contacted NYUAD way before, and they did ask that your whole of application package should reach them by Jan.1 (including your other materials like transcripts etc.) if you’re especially applying ED-II, so I don’t think that they’ll utilize the second CW in Feb. for ED-II UNLESS if some candidates selected for the first CW in Feb but have traveling or some other probs in attending that one.
Plus just a random fact, Harvard takes about 15 minutes to process an app and make a decision, so since ED-II for NYUAD is expected to have a no. of about 150-200 apps, it should be quick enough.

Could some of you kindly elaborate on what exactly happens during candidate weekends?

If I go into details, it’d ruin the fun, basically speaking you explore NYUAD for a glimpse and meet your potential future classmates (if of course you’re lucky enough) and some part of the city, i.e. Abu Dhabi and experience how attending NYUAD could be like.

In short… you can check out NYUAD and NYUAD will check you out too. And you’ll have heaps of fun.

hey… I’m having a problem in Profile application filling because I don’t understand most of the questions regarding Taxes in my country… and my mid year grades aren’t up yet! is this a problem?
the college already downloaded my commonapp on 12 29 10… so does this mean that they have read my app?
does anyone know if anyone has been invited for the next CW yet?
Thank You!

@nickmilleradore – You can inbox me your questions if you want, or you can better ask the NYUAD Financial Support staff and clear your doubts regarding the PROFILE application. Well mid-year grades differ from school to school worldwide, so in my opinion, they shouldn’t be a problem. And your app is downloaded on the given date means that your app has been submitted successfully but the university hasn’t received or acknowledged your app yet, you should wait a bit and allow time for processing. And about CW, I don’t think anyone has been invited yet, it depends also whether if you’re applying ED-II or RD since your invite may differ accordingly.
P.S – Where are you from btw? :)

@murtaza101 thanks! i will! actually I also posted a thread about it.
so how will i know if the uni has acknowledged my application?
thanks for your answer, it helped a lot. I was pessimistic already because the Uni hasn’t contacted me and I thought everyone already had their ED-II CW invitation.
I am from Indonesia  As far as I know we have a lot of indonesian students applying to NYUAD this year, and last year there was only one who got accepted, so I am very nervous right now :P

@nickmilleradore – If your app has been acknowledged successfully, you’ll receive an email showing the acknowledgment by providing you with your University ID details, which you can use to check your app status or make any changes.

As far as I know, none of the Indonesians were accepted ED. There were 4 or 5 Indonesians at my CW but unfortunately, they were all rejected.

Best of luck to you!!

And I think by stats there was only 1 Indonesian who was accepted for the Class of 2014 out of all the applicants.

@murtaza101 thanks for your info! it means a lot! @kiwikid @murtaza101 are you guys NYUAD Students? You know until now I still think NYUAD is too good to be true… but over some researches… it is great and it is true…

Hey it’s good …very interesting …just try it…and other college are also give us,

@murtaza101 – I’m not a NYUAD student, well as of yet I’m not  I have applied ED-II and I’m awaiting my decision. Hope I get in.

I’m getting a bit worried. I sent my application (online) on the 23rd but still haven’t received any confirmation of my application, whereas others submitted after me and have already received their Albert IDs.

Also, are there two Candidate Weekends for ED2 applicants? Or just one? By when will we know if we’re invited?

@ma3a20 – Firstly about your application, relax, they’re having tons of apps being processed all together in the office, so it’s a heavy paperwork, expect to get your NYU ID by next week. If you don’t, write an email to NYUAD and tell them the exact situation.
About the CW, now even I’m unsure about ED-II having 2 CWs instead of 1, but going by logic, the no. of ED-II applicants is expected to be the least among all the decision options available for NYUAD. So considering by logic, only one CW should be enough for ED-II (i.e Feb 3-6). But then, some people may not be able to travel during that time either they’re having some kind of exams, or are busy, or having visa issues, so only a few people may then attend the second CW of Feb., of course their acceptance will be expected by this date, so I believe they’d already be accepted based on their app alone. (This is something like the Jan. CW last year, where there were ED candidates as well, along with RDs, those ED candidates had already been accepted and were traveling post decision date).
So if you’re being contacted for the first CW, expect an invite by the either the end of this week or next week. For the second CW, either expect an early invite by the same date, or the invite may come around the week where the first CW of Feb. takes place.

hey guys! having some difficulties with filling out the PROFILE. what type of visa should I select?

@Dzhannet – Umm well actually the visa question doesn’t apply much to NYUAD since NYUAD is in UAE and the visa requirement for UAE is different than that for US. The visa requirement is for US universities, and like myself, if you are applying to US universities, select the F1 (student) visa, it is the most common type of visa chosen by students abroad.

@murtaza101, thank you very much!

Does anyone know about how many people got in ED1?
And also how many students the class of 2015 will constitute?
