NYU Admissions

Hey Guys,

In a general order, which academic areas does NYU put more weight on, such as GPA over SAT scores or extra curricular activities, or anything like that. I'm wondering because I have a slightly higher SAT score than the average, but a slightly lower GPA.

In general, NYU considers everything you include on your application for admission. They especially pay close attention to your application essays. High SAT/ACT scores are important, as well as GPA, but as I’ve said, they honestly do look at everything. I was in your situation last year, and thankfully I have been accepted to NYU. It took a lot of hard work (especially junior year) and a lot of praying. Good luck! :)

I just got into NYU (Literally, an hour ago)… Although my sats and acts (1880/27) weren’t spectacular, I pretty sure my grades (3.8/6.0) gpa + extra currics + 800 hours of community service got me in. In general, I think you should be “well-rounded” as cheesy as it sounds. Just because you may be weak in one area doesn’t mean your whole chances are over. Take care!

roy, did you get a letter in the mail or through email? and was it RD or ED?
