NYU admissions

hey i was wondering if i have a good chance to nyu stern if i apply early admissions:
Indian-American...uhhh...the asian kind :)
male
going for IB Diploma
took 3 ap test junior year...don't know result yet :/
SAT: 2070
Math: 720
Verbal: 700
Writing: 650

GPA Weighted: 4.47
Unweighted: 3.6-3.8 i'm not really sure

I plan on taking SAT II's Chem. and IIC , but i think they'll suck and just barely if even break 700s

ECs:
have played Club soccer for a local travel team for 8 years
Travel Indoor Soccer
Various soccer tournaments with club soccer
played three years of school soccer 2 varsity, 1 jv

not really active in any school clubs (I can't find anything at all i'm interested in :( ) but i paid the club dues (if that counts for anything :) ) for FBLA, Latin Club, DECA, and Forensics
haven't done anything concerning those clubs other than Latin Club

National Young Leaders Conference (i know everyone gets these ads in the mail...i just wanted to really get away from my overbearing parents :) )

300+ hrs. of community service at local hospitals
mentoring at local elementary school
church usher

Internship at Syndicate Bank of Combitator (in India)...it was REALLY REALLY short...like 2 days...does that count??? ummm...even as "shadowing"???

Oh btw for an essay topic, i was wondering for an extracurricular activity if i could put rapping...yeah its kind of weird. I got into rapping when i was in 8th grade and have gotten pretty good at it. I have been to 2 high school with a considerably mixed population (the one i'm attending now is an ESL school... oh and no i'm not in it :) ). I have beat several others "rappers" in my area (think of the Eminem movie 8 Mile) and basically used that to gain popularity. (sorry guys debate team and forensics doesn't get you 2 many girls ;) ) Anyways, i was wondering if i could use "rapping" as a essay topic because its something i feel passionately about and hip-hop music is something i love more than anything else in the world. Sadly i haven't been able to go to any organized competitions (like they do for debate team or DECA, etc) b/c hey my parents are indian...therefore a bunch of uptight @ssholes :) and u got 2 be 18 to enter most...so...ummm...would this essay topic work...and oh yeah can i get into NYU????? I'm the first person in my family to go to an American college so i would really appreciate any and all advice. thanks

You probably wont get into NYU. So just stop trying. About that rapping thing, are you out of your mind?

I think the person above me was unneccesarily harsh. If rapping is what you love, then go for it in your essay. People write their college essays about all kinds of crazy things. You have a decent chance, I think, but the SAT score needs work. NYU is a numbers game. Good luck! PS-the internship probably doesn't count, and the fact that you are the first person in your family to go to college in America doesn't mean ****. I would imagine that there are a considerable amount of Indians at NYU, many who are also first-generation desi.

Your chances actually look decent, and the essay topic is truly up to you, not us. It's about YOUR passion, how are we supposed to know and judge what you're passionate about?

im constantly told that if ur passionate about something ull write the best essay on it...i wouldnt listen to legionaire..i think she/he is scared of the competition

3.8 GPA? 1420 on the original sections of the SAT? Tough curriculum? You are definitely a candidate. Obviously, Stern is very tough to get into, but you have a shot.

how much percent...around 40% chance?

I don't think anybody can really give you a % chance. Your essay has to play a large part in the decision. 40% does sound a little high though. Stern is one of the best and most popular B school in the world.

since i'm applying ed does that increase my chances alot though?

don't colleges, specifically admission officers, kinda judge what your passionate about?
