NYU and Barnard

Hey, I'm applying to NYU and Barnard as a transfer student, and I wanted to know if anyone had any idea what my chances are.

I have a 3.87 and I'm in the Honors program at my school. My SATs are 1420, and my high school GPA was somewhere around a 3.8 weighted (probably a 3.6ish unweighted). I'm also in a few clubs (community service, sports, major interests, etc...). If anyone has any idea how good of a shot I have, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

i think ur in

Thanks, I hope you're right.

i think you have a great chance too. but remember, nyu fin aid for regular freshman students is lousy - so just imagine what the transfer package will be like.

Very good point. I talked to a girl at my college who was admitted to NYU as a transfer but received horrible financial aid.

At this point I'm less concerned about financial aid than whether I'll get in or not.

How many college credits do you have?

I'll have 60 hours after this semester. 45 are included in the 3.87, but some of those were IB credits, so probably 32 were earned last year.

What dollar amount would you say constitutes as "horrible aid" ???

That would depend on the individual circumstance. That being said, every person I've known who was accepted to NYU (except one) didn't attend b/c the financial was low, much lower than the fin aid from other colleges. One girl I talked to said that unless she found an outside loan to help, there was no way she could afford to go to NYU. It was sad too b/c that was her dream school.
