I am going to apply for CAS as double major for swimming next year. I am in contact with the swim coach but I was just wondering what are the academics like for NYU CAS as an athlete? I know couple of kids who didnt get in with 34 ACT as an athlete and someone who got in with 27 ACT to CAS?
You should ask the coach. At the end of your jr year s/he can do a preread to see if you are in the range of those normally admitted. But, until then the coach can tell you if you need to retake the ACT or not.
But does nyu have a significant pull though? My times are quite fast for the team (not trying to sound cocky lol)
That’s a question for the coach. Ask specifically if he has influence with admission to CAS, and then ask if he’s willing to use his pull to help you. Ask if he’s had other swimmers with your stats get in, or had some not get in. It is okay to say you don’t know because you don’t know. “How does this work? Do I submit my application and note that I’ve been recruited for swimming? Do you send a letter to admissions?”
When you go on an overnight, you can ask the others on the team for information too. Gently.
