I'm Filipino so idk how that affects my chances

Bump. Sorry I’m super anxious

You’re applying to half the schools on my list. And I’m pinoy, too! But I think you can relax a little. I’m jealous of all the volunteer work, and you have plenty of extracurriculars and some summer stuff so I don’t think you need to worry about the lack of a job. The awards are great too. Even if it isn’t a giant list, there’s some depth to them. Question though; do people really put vacations on their college apps? As for the filipino-ness, I’ve noticed Villanova doesn’t have a lot of Asians, so it’ll help there. Personally, I think Villanova, Drexel, and NYU are very realistic for you. Don’t know a lot about Boston College (I presume that’s BC?) but I think you have a good shot at the rest. Good luck!

I have no idea about vacations. i just saw summer activities so i put it lol. Thanks for the opinion. Any other thoughts?

bumppppp.any chance at those ivies?

I am on the same boat as you, so I will just give my honest evaluation from what i have observed on these forums. You should have no trouble getting into all the schools except the ivies. Your SAT I scores are on the lower end of accepted applicants, so they won’t help you in getting in. Also, your extracurriculars are not really that exceptional. They are not bad, but I do not think they will particularly stand out. I would say the ivies are high reaches, as they are for everyone.

Also, nice name : ) The album was pretty good.

Here’s my chance thread:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/princeton-university/1509989-realistically-what-my-chances-getting-into-princeton.html

Thanks for the reply. What if I got my Act up to around a 34ish and gor some recognition for siemens or intel and wrote killer essays. Like what should I be doing to increase my chances to make the ivies low reaches instead of high reaches?

bump lo siento

bumpppppppp

Johns Hopkins, Columbia, UPenn, and Brown are reaches. ECs are a big problem. I can’t find a “passion.” By looking at those, I can’t tell what you really like. Develop a passion for something, anything really, and build your ECs around it. Just do what you think is fun, and do as much of it in as many creative ways as you can. As of right now, chances are looking a bit too slim for top tier schools…

Bringing your test scores up will definitely make you a more competitive applicant, so I think it would be a good idea to try the ACT. Good essays would help anyone to be honest.

But I agree with the previous poster with the passion aspect. What you like is a bit unclear from glancing at your ECs, so if you do like science then definitely put in the work for Siemens and Intel. Good luck!

Drexel- safety
Villanova- low match
NYU- match
BC- match
JHU- low reach (as long as your not premed)
UPenn- reach
Brown- reach
Columbia- reach
My advice is pretty much the same as everyone else’s: find a passion or put more time into the ecs you enjoy and expand on them, and get those scores up.
Good luck!
