Now that NYU Poly has fully merged with NYU, which is better: the NYU CAS computer science program or NYU Poly computer science program?

Also because of the merger, does the admission requirements of NYU Poly rise to the standards of NYU CAS? (Such as the SAT score and the GPA requirements)

NYU Poly comp sci is actually better. Requirements are the same overall for the school. Its not that its better if people with better scores and GPA. It all depends on the school resources and connections.

I would hardly say that poly is better at comp-sci. Judging by the rankings, we’re looking at a (#28) to (#72) difference, which is substantial by any means. NYU Arts and Sciences’ computer science is tied in with Courant, which is already known as one of the premiere math departments in the world. I would go with NYU CAS, simply because of the resources it has to offer. Nobody yet knows what the admissions standards will be like for Poly. One can only guess that more people will apply to the NYU name, see that there’s now an official engineering school, and apply to it. There might be more applications to Poly, resulting in a smaller acceptance rate.

But Poly does offer lots of great connections and resources. We use the wasserman center like everyone else at NYU. You might want to come to the open house and check it out. Rankings doesn’t matter much if you can make the best of it. Poly does offer plenty of resources just like the rest of the university.
