Since I'm posting in the NYU forum, I'll probably get more support for the former. But just to gain some perspective, which school would be more preferable for both domestic and international job prospects?

If you’re looking to work the ‘wall street job’ then NYU will be better. Also, I believe (it’s been a while since I applied to Emory) that you apply to Emory then in Junior year you apply to the business school. Obviously NYU Stern beats out Goizueta, so you could apply there. If you think you can get into Emory, you should be able to get into NYU CAS or Stern (Speaking from experience, NYU is easier to get into than Emory). NYU CAS economics is essentially on par with Columbia, so you can’t get much better. But without knowing your preferences it’s hard to recommend.

CAS economics is a top-10 program in its category. Emory is a good school but doesn’t compare. A lot of kids from CAS manage to make it onto Wall St. despite competing with all of us in Stern, but if you have a definite business interest, Stern should be your first priority.

Another huge thing is the location factor. NYU is in Manhattan, meaning you’ve got access to some of the premier think tanks, world-leading investment banks, investment management firms, research opportunities, you name it.

Thanks for the replies guys. However I am specifically comparing NYU CAS Economics (not Stern) with Emory Goizueta (2 year program). I’m not all too gung-ho about applying to Stern because I’m not too sure about what field of business I even want to pursue and I’ve heard admissions is significantly more difficult than CAS (someone told me it’s comparable to ivies?).

If anyone can provide some more perspective between these two particular programs, not considering Stern, that would be great.

We did - NYU CAS Econ is a top ten program. Emory B school is not a top ten program. Meaning NYU’s Econ program is more respected for Econ than Emory B schools is respected as a B school. Yes, Stern admissions in comparable to ivy admission. But remember, you’re not guaranteed admission to Goizueta. But if you were to go to NYU you would be in the program of your choice. NYU CAS will give you (most likely) a larger salary/job opportunities because of it’s location and reputation. But beyond that, trying to compare a CAS Econ degree to a B school is quite difficult because they focus on different things.
