NYU Cas vs NYU Stern

Hello!

Im currently trying to transfer and I have a huge dilemma.

NYU stern only accepted 25 students that are external transfers. While NYU Cas has a much higher acceptance rate.

But, if I don’t get into NYU then I will not be where I’d like to be, New York.
But, if everyone asked me during an interview, oh you go to stern, ill constantly have to say no just econ at CAS.
Any suggestions on where to apply?

If admitted to CAS as a transfer you are not allowed to transfer internally to Stern. Can you afford NYU given their limited financial aid?

@TomSrOfBoston Loans!

Of course! :))

Speaking as a current NYU student, econ is one of the most (possibly the most?) popular CAS major, and it’s fairly well respected. People recognize that CAS econ is different than Stern, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get a quality education or that it is looked at as worse (especially since Stern doesn’t have its own econ–it has business econ and economic theory, but straight economics is all through CAS). I also know that it is very hard to get an internal transfer to Stern, since NYU doesn’t want people applying for other schools as an easier way into Stern.

Basically, if your heart is set on Stern and Stern alone, apply straight to Stern. If you care more about NYU and the city, apply for CAS, since economics there is still quality and still offers plenty of opportunities in NYC.

Thank you!
