Ok, I am just wondering how much more difficuilt it is to get into Stern over the regular College of Arts and Sciences. As for now, NYU is on the easy end of my match schools, would applying to Stern make it much harder? Would it become a reach? Also, does anyone have admissions statistics for Stern alone? And lastly, if I have an extra essay, talking about what has sparked my interest in business (a very good essay I think) would there be anyway I could include that with my app if I decide to go for Stern?

Thanks

NYU's official answer to this question is something like, "There is no difference; if you can get into one school, you can get into any of them." But we know that's not true :-)

Everything I know is pretty much hearsay. I'm not sure that applying to Stern instead of CAS will move NYU from an "easy match" to a "reach"; it's not as though Stern is some Ivy within NYU. I know that NYU Stern prefers higher math SATs (upper 600s-700s I'd guess?), experience in math in high school, and maybe stats are a bit higher overall. However, I doubt the difference is THAT significant.

As for the essay, include it. I recall the NYU application allowing supplemental materials that you think the admissions committee should know about, and an essay showing why you want to go into business definitely counts. I did precisely the same thing.

Thanks caromage!

I applied to stern, and included the essay in the "extra information" section.
