<p>Hi, I am currently an undergrad student at Queensborough Comm College. / (A CUNY School) I just finished my 3rd semester and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.3
I am hoping to apply to NYU's Stienhardt School under the CCTOP program. The question I am asking is regarding my cumulative gpa. I recievd a GED from in 2002 and I attended one semester at Brookdale CC in NJ (I used to live in NY, but my parents went through a divorce and I had to move, so I got my GED and moved to NJ with my mom) I didn't do so well that semester and a got a bunch of WU's and 1 B in English 101. That semester is over 5yrs ago and my life is totally different from then until now. After the bad semester at Brookdale, I started working full time and moved back to NYC on my own. When I was turning 21, I realized that although I make decent money, to achieve my dreams I will at least need a BA, so I enrolled in QCC full time. I'm not making excuses, but I made mistakes 5 years ago, I didn't take college as seriously as I should have, but since being at QCC I've had mostly A's in many of my courses, my GPA suffers at a 3.3 because of a C- in my recent calculus class. Otherwise my transcripts are mostly A's and B's. (I am also an Honor's student here) Will my record at Brookdale severely hamper my chances at NYU despite it being 5 years ago? Please advise</p>

<p>im not too keen on the particulars for steinhardt...</p>

<p>but as a general rule of thumb, you dont have a shot at transfering to nyu from a community college with anything less than a 3.9-4.0...3.3 is very low coming from a top LAC and from a CC, well, I'd maybe explore some other options</p>

<p>My friend got into CAS last year for Biology major with a 3.4 GPA from Onondaga CC in Central New York. Yes... he was one of the lucky 160 selected out of 1700 applicants. The same is true with even a lower GPA for my Indian friend who got in with a 3.3.</p>

<p>Remember.... when they say average GPA ..... for example... 3.7 .... the GPA will range anywhere between 3.4 and 4.0 .... if there are more students with 4.0 ... the GPA range will go even lower than that.</p>

I actually still put my app in. NYU sent me a form to fill in my midterm grade report and thankfully i'm a 4.0 this semester. I was a 3.6 student prior to a C- in my honors calc class (It was a 5 credit class that dragged my GPA way down) So i'm just waiting to see what happens.</p>

<p>NO your high school transcript isnt considered in the admission process. The transcript is only for proof of graduation, if you are in the CCTOP program.</p>
