Hey guys,

I'm wondering what my chances are for NYU. I'm a senior and I'm planning on applying Early Decision II. From Montgomery County, Maryland, go to school in Washington, D.C.

3.67 cum GPA with a 4.13 first semester of Senior year

SAT:
600 MAth
690 CR
730 Writing
2020 Total

ACT:
29 Composite

Extracurricular:
President of Spanish Honors Society
Newspaper Editor
Swimming
Theater
Service
Foreign study
Internship at DC lobbying firm

Your standardized test scores are definitely low, as is your GPA. I feel that you didn’t give enough information for me to judge your ECs properly, but they may work to your advantage depending on how much time you spent in them/how much recognition you’ve received for them.
It would also help to know your class rank, course-load, any APs, ethnicity, gender, etc.
Good essays will be incredibly critical to your chances.

Honestly, NYU seems like a reach–but still possible, given you improve your scores and write amazing essays.

Chance back?

I’d say you have a decent shot , Gpa might be too low and not enough info given about ECs for me to judge properly. best of luck, I’m going to say a low reach.

chance me?
