Isn’t that you?

lol

yes, it is. But I would like to know just with NYU. People didn’t answer my question…

I would read this: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/massachusetts-institute-technology/939227-reminder-no-one-not-even-me-can-give-you-an-accurate-chance-at-mit-p1.html

I know it’s for MIT but it’s really applicable to all schools. Chance threads are stupid - no one can tell you where you will get in or not, especially at these holistic approach schools (However remember academics is usually the most important component of your app). They may accept one applicant for their phenomenal essay and another for their musical talent. No one can tell you why or why not you will be accepted/rejected.

I know you’re anxious, and I understand that on your previous thread most saw your SAT score as a glaring downfall, however I assume you’ve already applied, so the only thing left to do is wait and see.

Just hang in there, you’ll know soon enough!!

Thank you @fizzy110‌! It is nice to finally hear someone like you, who is not so negative! Thanks

But you see @fizzy110‌, how would you recommend, if say I wouldn’t get accepted to any of the uni’s, to tell my peers. The thing is that my classmates expect me to get accepted to all of the uni’s… They see me as the high-achiever…

@nikk111, I thoroughly understand your concern, however, you need to find a way to move what your peers think to the back of your mind and concentrate on yourself. When someone asks you about one of these schools tell them that you don’t expect to get in as they are highly competitive, and you are looking at other options. You don’t owe anyone an explanation.

The thing with the ivy leagues and other top universities is that realistically you need to expect a rejection, the statistics mean that even the best of the best get rejected. Unfortunately, as many have said, due to your SAT scores your chances may be even slimmer than many applicants.

Currently you have a college list that would be considered close impossible for even the best students - so right now you need to start looking at some other options in order to ensure you have a place to go next year. (Did you apply anywhere else?) On your other thread there were many good suggestions for US colleges that have rolling admissions.

Also if a gap year is an option for you, I would recommend taking the SATs again. I would also recommend you apply to some of the many top schools in the UK such as UCL, Kings, Edinburgh - they have higher acceptance rates, and for many of their courses your IB scores are perfect, so expecting an acceptance at one of these schools would be far more realistic.

Okay. I have applied to Copenhagen Business school, where I expect to get in. So yes, I would call the US colleges extremely high-reach, unrealistic, but you probably understand that I have to believe in myself

But @fizzy110‌, how about NYU. I understand that it is still extremely competitive, but how are my chances there? I don’t need my SAT scores for that…soo…

It’s okay to be hopeful!! But there is a line between being hopeful and delusional (not implying that you are delusional lol).

I really hate chance threads but I’ll play this time lol. Your “chances” at NYU are probably much higher because of no SAT score. NYU is also known to be stingy with aid, so the fact that you won’t be needing it is good (I don’t even know if aid from NYU is available to internationals).

And it seems that overall you are a good students. If you’re confident with your essays and have dazzling recs, I don’t think you’re out of your league for NYU.

Cool. Thanks. I might have been delusional with the Ivy’s, so I am hoping for NYU… Uhh… It just sucks having to wait for such a long time!

How did your SAT scores break down by section? They seem too low for Stern (which is very selective), but if your Math is dazzling you might - as an international student - be forgiven for low verbal scores. I say that as a very, very big “might.” I do not see anyone getting into Stern with less than a 700 Math score. If you’re not concerned about finances, you should see if Pace is still accepting applications. They are located in lower Manhattan, within walking distance of Wall Street, and have many internship and networking opportunities. You should qualify academically. I don’t know whether Temple, in Philadelphia, is still accepting applications for next fall, but they are another possibility. If you really want to come to college in the US, consider matriculating at some open-admission colleges with good transfer histories.

@woogzmama I thought NYU was test optional? Or does Stern require math subject tests?

NYU has a flexible test requirement. You may use IB HL score reports, APs, or SAT subject tests. At least one of them must be in Math for Stern. I wasn’t sure how it worked. To be eligible for admission, applicants are expected to submit results from one of the following testing options:

The SAT Reasoning Test; or
The ACT with Writing Test; or
Three SAT Subject Test scores; or
Three AP exam scores; or
The International Baccalaureate Diploma; or
Three IB higher-level exam scores (if you are not an IB Diploma candidate); or
Results from a nationally accredited exam that is considered locally to signify the completion of secondary education, is administered independently of the student’s school, and has been approved by the NYU Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Click here to review our list of approved national examinations.

Did the OP submit these test results? He never made that clear, if so. He mentioned “predicted” IB results, but tests taken this spring would only affect admission in the case of wait-listing.

Temple closes today. It is 40k. Pace is 60k. Apply by May 1. I’d still put in an app to the Maine schools. Don’t know why you changed your name.

How is Pace? Can I still apply there? It seems pretty good

@nikk111 I think the date varies from program to program… I would have a browse on their website to confirm

http://www.pace.edu/admissions-aid/undergraduate-admissions/international/key-dates-deadlines

So, they have a rolling admissions! Great! I have just applied
