Hi! I am just wondering what my chances are at getting into NYU CAS early decision 1. My gpa is 97.20 weighted. I got a 29 composite ACT. 31 English, 28 math science and reading. Im sending my 720 sat ii chemistry. I am in all honors and ap classes. I got a 4 on ap language, statistics and u.s. history and 3 on ap psychology. I am taking ap chem, literature, environmental science, and Spanish and I am in intro to calc honors. I run track after school. And I am writing a essay about how I've grown up working in a restaurant and the influence that has had on me. I also play multiple sports just not on the school team. I can speak English and three Chinese dialects. Thanks for the help!!

Match since you’re applying early decision with weak ECs.

What do you mean by match? And I have clubs like science Olympiad math team and fbla. But I’ve been working at the family restaurant since I was 5 years old.

With that additional information, I could say low match.

Why? Can you explain to me please!

match=50/50
low match=70% yes/ 30 no

I would say you are a low match because your ACT score is a little on the low side. Your is GPA strong though, so I think it makes up for it. I definitely think you have a good chot! Good luck and chance me back too!

I would say low match as well. I’d say you have a good shot at the school. Your GPA is strong, but what is it unweighted, since that is important as well.

Percentages aren’t really in use here so here’s a qualitative description of what I tell people I give chance ratings:

Reach: Admissions chances are slim
High match: Rejection is likely but there’s still some room for acceptance (more so than in a reach)
Match: Admission is almost as likely as rejection, or slightly more likely
Low match: Acceptance is likely but there’s still some room for rejection
Safety: Acceptance is at hand

Catria, I have a question. Why do college in nyu have different acceptance rates? Like nyu stern is less than 20 percent. But in general on college board it says nyus acceptance rate is 32?

I believe that each college within NYU treats applications differently. If Stern is less than 20 percent (with the compounded effects of yield, that goes up to 38%) then CAS is roughly 35% (higher still if yield is compounded)

But business schools being business schools, they are often more popular than their non-business counterparts.

Thanks catria, i understand. And Thanks for your all you guys help! I just really want to go to NYU so i am pretty nervous.

i think you should do fine just so you know apparently ED makes a huge difference at NYU
Chance back!
