I am planning to apply for music or english. (double major?)
What are my chances?

Go for It!

It depends on the school you apply to but I think you have a good chance at NYU

You're not out of the running.

Being valedictorian is great, but people are going to wonder if you skated by with perfect grades in easier classes if you only managed a 27 on the ACT. My class is larger, but the top 10 in my class would probably be getting 33+ scores.

Bring this topic back up when you get an SAT score.

Yeah
ur act is kinda low which doesnt say goood things about your gpa because it makes your gpa seem undeserved or inflated

To the above two who mentioned the high gpa/low act...

It is better to have a high gpa and a low act (or sat) rather than a high act and low gpa.

high act and low gpa is an indicator of laziness.

though it would be best to have both a high gpa and a high act/sat...at least defyinggravity does not have the worst possible combination (high act, low gpa.)

I do not believe that colleges will hold that against you. You did extremely well in high school, you maxed out your high school's curriculum and still pulled through with a 4.0 gpa and will graduate as a valedictorian. They cannot hold that against you. On the contrary, they will be thoroughly impressed! So don't worry about it.

Now back to the question: I think you stand a Good chance for NYU. I will say this:

NYU: Slight Reach/Match

I say slight reach because of your low ACT score. Your GPA is impressive, you have excellent extracurriculars and awards; the only thing hurting you now is your ACT score. Also, don't forget about the personal statements and letters of recommendation.

Well that's my two cents. Good luck with the admissions process!

...bump...

I totally agree with gplayer! You have a strong work ethic and dedication to your community! You will go far in life! I will see you on broadway!

......bbuuuumppp....
