Does anyone know what the projected acceptance rate is for 2013? I've heard it will be under 20%, but not sure.

all signs point to a 37% acceptance rate

lol, it definitely won't be under 20%

sterns will be lower

It's normally like 32% or something, so it might be a bit lower b/c of the rise in apps this year, but who knows?

Straight from wikipedia:
The Class of 2012 (entering Fall 2008) is made up of 4,310 students, 26.9% of which were early decision candidates.[76] The middle 50% of SAT scores for the Class of 2011 fell between a 1300 and a 1440 while the middle 50% of ACT scores were between 29 and 31. The average High School GPA was a 3.63 and 72.3% of incoming students were in the top 10% of their class.[76] The school's admissions rate fell to an NYU record low of 24% of applicants.[77]

^^And if it's on the internet, it HAS to be true.

But in all seriousness, 37% seems really high. Especially since we're in the baby-boom college application period. I think it will probably be low to mid 20s.

What I'd really like to know is the school-by-school breakdown, at least for Stern and Tisch. As an applicant it was pretty hard to judge the competitiveness of admission to those schools... felt like I was flying blind most of the time.

According the the NYU admissions website, NYU had a 25 % acceptance rate, so definately something under 25% all of you predicting 30 somethingers are foolish :)

Admissions Statistics (Fall, 2008)
Number of Applications: 36,809
Percent Offered Admission: 25.3%

i got into nyu this yr, they said less than 25 percent

God, I still can't believe I got in. What sucks is that there are so few good schools to apply to if you want to live in New York. For me I applied to Columbia, NYU, and Fordham and each schools admit rate fell to a record low (I got into NYU and Fordham). I guess for girls it's slightly better if you count Barnard. bahah

what is fordham's admit rate this yr?

why dont you go to the fordham threads? lol

princeton review says:

Total applicants: 37,245
Total applicants who are accepted: 11,965

Thats 32% for last years applicants

^ It's 25% excluding LSP. They don't count LSP since it's only a two-year program I believe.

According to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stern_School Stern's admit was 21% for 06-07, so it's most likely under 20% now. Tisch is >25 but it varies from program to program.

Fordham's like 40%.

no, i think it is less than 25 percent including everything

“all signs point to a 37% acceptance rate” WHOA WHOA WHOA. hold up there for a second. NYU’s general acceptance rate by all the deparments is usually 25%. Stern is much harder to get into, therefore it must be lower or around 25%… NOWHERE AROUND 37%. That’s just overkill.

@ MathTeamExtraPro

(1) This thread is from 2009%
(2) In 2009, the acceptance rate was indeed around 37%
(3) The acceptance rate last year (For the class of 2016) was 35%, with the previous year being around 33% (class of 2015).

Indeed, 37% was very accurate and actually correct. The acceptance rate includes Stern, Tisch, CAS, Steinhardt, Gallatin, NYU-AD, LSP, SCPS, the College of Nursing, College of Dentistry and the Silver School.

Fact check please.

NYU’s acceptance rate, all of those schools included, has never been below 30%.

This year’s rate is probably no more than 30%. Stern’s acceptance rate probably reached a record low <20%.

In fall of 2012, 42,807 people applied with an admissions rate of 35% and yield of 34%. If the yield remains the same, it does look like, based on this year’s number of applicants, the admissions rate will drop.

[NYU Receives Record Number of Applications Across Its Global Network of Campuses](<a href=“NYU Receives Record Number of Applications Across Its Global Network of Campuses”>NYU Receives Record Number of Applications Across Its Global Network of Campuses)

“There are some 5,250 spaces available in NYU’s freshman class across its global network, with approximately 4,800 New York-based spaces (91%), 150 (3%) in Abu Dhabi, and approximately 300 (6%) in Shanghai. Of the 48,606 applicants, 94% expressed interest in New York (45,452 applicants), 9% expressed interest in Abu Dhabi (4,289 applicants), and in its first year of recruitment, an extraordinary 11% expressed interest in Shanghai (5,145 applicants).”

@ NYU2013, if none of the acceptance rates have been under 30%, then why do i see 25% acceptance rates on wikipedia? People have also agreed on some posts that NYU’s acceptance rate is indeed well below 30% (low 20s for stern).

I have also heard taht stern is harder than all the other NYU schools, so their acceptance rate can’t be 30% or more.

@MathTeamExtraPro

Acceptance rates below 30% have only ‘existed’ at NYU when NYU has excluded LSP admissions via some ‘loop holes’. E.g. NYU’s citation for sub 30% acceptance rate is inclusive of all of it’s 4-year degree granting programs - since LSP is a two-year program, it excludes LSP.

Whoever ‘agreed’ that NYU’s total acceptance rate was lower than 30% simply didn’t know what they were talking about. You can find all of this information in NYU’s yearly published reports.

Stern, CAS and Tisch’s acceptance rates float around 22.5% fluctuating between 20% and 25%. But, those are only 3 of the many schools that make up all of the undergraduate degree-granting schools and programs at NYU.
