NYU Class of 2017 Waitlist

ruth1313- That seems like a really good sign. I hope it turns into an offer with a good package for you. I’m still crossing my fingers for my S.

This morning I got the email- I got into NYU Tisch for drama!!! Feeling very blessed

Info: my fa status said 2014 award access not available, I received the interest email on May 14th, and received the acceptance email today May 29th.

Good luck to everyone!

Totololo - Sorry for the delayed response, too much work. Our daughter will be a NYU senior next fall. What I remember from the Dean of LSP is that getting into Stern from another NYU college is very difficult but not impossible. Even in cases when the student has exceptional grades, Stern may not be able to accomodate the student. Often is the case, the NYU student will study abroad (hopefully do well) and then work on transfering into Stern. Our daughter’s roommate was not able to transfer into Tisch until her senior year. So it is not impossible but it was very difficult to say the least. The student must be extremely motivated to make this happen. Again, the NYU experience will be incredible but also expensive. Like anything else in life, you get what you pay for and how much effort you put into it.

Congratulations Elizabeth247!!

My daughter got into Tisch for the dramatic writing program. Her FA status also changed yesterday to:
2014 award access not available

She got the interest e-mail on Thursday May 23rd and received the admission letter this morning.

We still can’t access the FA package to see if its adequate as her attending depends on it.

How soon after admission was everyone able to see the FA information?

Congratulations Elizabeth247 and Ruth1313.

My daughter was notified of her admission on Thursday, May 9th and her financial aid information was available on Monday, May 13th. We were relying on financial aid so it was a long weekend of waiting. Fortunately the package was enough that she could attend. Hopefully you’ll hear about financial aid by the end of the week.

valmoisy I like all of your posts… they give me hope!!!

Keeping my fingers crossed that we have the same experience you have with your daughter and NYU.

@ LSPCASParent : thanks for the explanation…:)…but what I actually meant was that like students who got off the wait list and admitted directly into CAS and Tisch this year, did you or your daughter who’s already a NYU student, hear about the prospects of getting off the wait list and being admitted directly into the stern business school this year (not through LSP or other programmes). Has stern already reached the limit of student for the class of 2017?

If someone else has an answer to my question, don’t hesitate to reply. I’m really very stressed about this issue…

@totololo I havent really heard of being people getting off the waitlist for stern. I’ve heard tisch and CAS mainly. I really hope you hear from them soon, I know how nerve-racking it is to be waiting this long, I’m in the same boat unfortunatly.

when did the previous waitlist kids get a deadline to respond by?

Congrats elizabeth247 & ruth1313! That’s great news. My S hasn’t received an admission offer yet, only the interest email, so we are still waiting. :(

Thanks everyone! Jjcatena, don’t lose hope- seriously anything can happen! Best of luck!!

jjcatena: I am sure he will eventually get the admission letter. It would be cruel if they sent the “are you still interested letter” and then not admit him after he indicated his interest in attending.

I wonder if the NYU has any idea how stressful this wait listing people is.

Good luck to you son.

My daughter’s still can’t access her FA in Albert so although she was admitted we are still in the same boat as everything revolves around the FA they will give her.

Thanks to you both for the good wishes. We are still hoping, but we are definitely stressed with all the waiting…good luck to you ruth1313 with the FA - I hope you get what you need.

Thanks jjcatena. Yes this is very stressful. Can you believe it? We have no FA information yet and she needs to give an answer within two weeks!!

I keep reading the interest letter specially the portion which asks if she would attend NYU “if offered admission and appropriate financial aid if needed” and hope their idea of appropriate FA is the same as mine!!

So today at 11:37 pm my daughter got an e-mail advising her to check financial aid…I have to say I did not expect an e-mail so late…well is going to Tisch and she could not be happier. She got a Tisch scholarship for a bit more than half the tuition. We will not have to pay room and board as she will live with my sister so that helps A LOT!!! She was going to go to Hunter if not accepted into NYU and it turns out we will not be paying much more than at Hunter College since we are out of state.
We are beyond thrilled, happy she can take advantage of the opportunity to use and develop her talents and thankful for the blessing. I still can’t believe we will be able to afford NYU.
I wish the best of luck to everyone here and even if NYU doesn’t work out I am sure everyone will find a great school. When all is said and done what is important is to keep focused and pursue an education in a field you love.
Thanks for everyone’s support in these stressful times.

Ruth1313~ WOW! That is wonderful! I am also surprised at the late email-they are certainly burning the midnight oil over there with these wait list offers. Being able to attend NYU with a FA offer that is about half the tuition is a dream come true. Congratulations! We can only hope now.

That’s great ruth1313! I’m so happy for your daughter.

Congratulations to your daughter ruth1313

OMG so yesterday I received an email from NYU asking if I was still interested in NYU and would I enroll if given admission and financial aid from NYU. Did anyone else who received the email and said they were interested get an admission offer? It would be SOOOOO messed up if they asked me that only to DENY me AGAIN after they denied me admission AND off the waitlist.

Thanks for your help!

@hello3 yess i got the same email as well yesterday and i have the same question. If we’re given this interest email and reply saying we’re still interested, will we most likely be admitted?
