I was wait listed and I saw a forum for those wait listed last year so I wanted to make a forum for the people wait listed this year because it'd be nice to talk to all of you who have the same cloud of uncertainty lying over their heads.

Last year there was an update for the wait list on April 25th and they sent out offers of admission to students in Tisch, engineering, technology, and applied science. So I would expect the same this year. They stopped offering admission to wait listed students by August 1st last year. (That hopefully is earlier this year)

I’m in the same boat as you @edwarddonald. I’m utterly confused and rather upset that I was waitlisted by NYU (though I understand the school’s overall acceptance rate isn’t indicative of Stern’s). Nevertheless I’ll have to learn to move on and not expect an offer off the waitlist.

Objective:
SAT: 2270
SATII: 750 Math II, 700 USH
GPA: 3.9 UW, 4.4 W
AP: English Lang (5), USH (5), Calc BC (5), Physics C: Mec (3)
Senior Year Courses: AP English Lit, AP US Gov, AP Stats, AP Environmental, Sales and Marketing 3 (Student Store Mgmt), Economics

Subjective:

DECA (Chapter President, Regional VP) - 3x State Qualifier, 2x National Qualifier
Library Administration Volunteer - managed purchases for entire library system, research work to improve Outreach service, Presidential Volunteer Service Award
Microsoft Intern - all of senior year, managing repository of corporate benefits, statistical analysis/competitive research
Lots of other volunteer stuff, 2nd internship, blah blah blah
Recommendations: Should’ve both been fantastic
Essays: Common App - spent 7 months, 9/10 NYU Supp - very specific, 6.5/10

Other:
State: Washington
Race: Asian (Indian)
Gender: Male

I’m actually extremely upset. In one day I received 6 rejections/waitlists. I was sure I’d get into Stern and I really love the school. I visited the city and NYU and fell in love with its involvement within the city and the proximity/recruiting to Wall St. Oh well…

@SlamDunkz2496
Sir I’m in exactly the same position as you, with the same desire to attend Stern for exactly the same reasons Hope we both get accepted out of the wait-list into Stern or at least into NYU.

Have any of you guys received a confirmation from the nyu admissions office about whether they’ve received thw rsvp form? I submitted mine a couple of days back. Haven’t received a confirmation yet.

I got placed on the waitlist too and still haven’t received a confirmation.
In the mean time though, I decided to place my deposit at TCNJ.
It was my 2nd choice after all and I rather not take any chances waiting on NYU.
I guess if it’s meant to happen, it’ll happen but if it’s not… #TCNJ2018

I haven’t gotten my confirmation either. I don’t think they are sending them out for a while considering the deadline to submit them is May 1st?

have you guys submitted the RSVP form yet? NYU is my first choice and I’m very desperate to get in…I was wondering if selecting many campuses (Shanghai, Florence, London, Paris) would increase my chance of getting in?

@semivamp, Shanghai and Abu Dhabi are entirely separate 4 year universities, so while you could certainly study “abroad” as it were from Shanghai at NYU Main, you could only do so for one or two semesters. You could not switch to NYC from Shanghai without applying as a transfer student

@jazzcatastrophe ohhh okay…then i guess im not clicking on NYU Shanghai haha. So im gonna select New York Campus, Florence, Paris and London and if there is available space for more than one of these, are they going to randomly put me into any one of them or do i get to choose??

Hey guys
I got wait listed too -_- for NYU POLY (although I got into Fordham ). But I don’t have as amazing SAT scores as you guys do (below 1900.)
So should I give up hope about getting in ,through the wait-list?

Hey guys, sorry you got waitlisted. Let me tell you that I know a lot of kids accepted to NYU and Stern who cannot afford to go. The FA is really tough, so you may get a chance to get off the list. Good luck.

I also got waitlisted to CAS (undecided), and got a confirmation on the 7th. The cloud of uncertainty is killing me, I want to get in so badly, NYU is my first choice, by far.
I also read somewhere that they wouldn’t be looking to accept students off the waitlist until at LEAST May 5th this year.
All we can do is wait it out and hope for the best, good luck to everyone!

SAT: 1970
W GPA: 4.33 UW GPA: 3.83
Took 11 AP’s, 2 sports 4 years each.
State: California
Race: White
Gender: Female

They have yet to post any updates on the admissions blog @Zippy0223 So I think the previous post that mentioned May 5th for looking to accept students seems like a good day to bank on an update.
