NYU Class of 2019 Discussions ED1

Thanks @fazeeeeeeel‌ @DemonOfMusic‌ @adityahemrajani‌ @NYUFan101‌, I appreciate your help. I’ll be on the look out for everything.

Sure, I’ll post stats! Y’all should too!

GPA: 3.4/4 UW, we don’t weight so I don’t have a weighted. I go to a pretty academically rigorous private school, but we also do weird things with our schedule so these stats are pretty weird! Good upward trend.
No AP’s or honors offered, but my school’s toughest courseload.
No rank

SAT: 2130 (750 CR, 630 M, 750 W)
ACT: 31 (33 English, 25 Math, 36 Reading, 30 Science)

I’m lower-middle class and the first woman in my family to attend college!

Oh wow. You have amazing stats lol.
My stats:

SAT: 1770 (630 math, 590 critical reading, 550 Writing) [pretty low for NYU, I know :(( ]
No subject tests either

Essay: On becoming a hafiz and how it influenced my major and me. 6/10 tbh…7/10 max

Supplement: I think it’s ok. I threw in a lot of facts about NYU and what it could offer me. And then I wrote about how I could add to NYU’s diversity by being 1) a hafiz and 2) a gay muslim. 8/10

Rec’s: I was hoping for them to be special, but I think they were pretty generic. Probably like a 7/10 for all of them.

Misc: Had an upward trend since freshman year!

Hooks: Second person in family to go to college, after my brother. A hafiz. A gay muslim.

 • volunteered at local community center for 2 years
 • a bunch of generic school clubs…nothing special.
 • spent a summer building homes for the poor in Asia…kind of like habitat for humanity

Being realistic & honest I expect myself to be a future NYU reject but hey, it doesn’t hurt in aiming for the stars ;)

Anyone else wanna post stats? I also just found out that my counselor never sent in my ED agreement or school report…gotta love Guidance Counselors :-L
