Will not writing down updates on leaderships, honors, etc., hurt my chance of acceptance?
I also got waitlisted at Poly! I’m from Canada, but hold an American citizenship. I know for a fact that they start sending offers out to waitlisted students in early May! Read http://admissionsblog.nyu.edu/2013/04/03/waiting-on-the-waitlist-a-users-guide/ ! It’s quite helpful
As well, I know that many students cannot afford to attend NYU, because it’s very pricey! (Around $60000 if living on campus without financial aid) Therefore, be optimistic!
I got waitlisted for Gallatin. Kind of nervous if there will be a spot available for me because everyone seems to be getting a lot of financial aid
Does anyone know what the chances of getting off the waitlist are?
@Backshe9 There too many variables to actually calculate chances. It matters on what school as well, you have a much better chance of getting off the waitlist for CAS than Stern. Also the percentage accepted from the waitlist differs year to year, they’ve taken nobody from it before and I belive once over 50% of the waitlisted students were offered admission.
@COnybound I got waitlisted at CAS so I’m hoping for the best do you know when we usually find out? And is it better to send follow up emails or is that just annoying to them?
@Backshe9 I think you should just do the rsvp form and express yourself there
I know this is a stupid question, but if you do get accepted off the waitlist, what next? Like do you have to decide you want to go to NYU in that split second or what?
(International Student) Got wait listed at both PolyT and Abu Dhabi :’( fml, seriously…
@collegeplease123 They usually give you 15 days to answer back! Read the blog, http://admissionsblog.nyu.edu/2013/04/25/wait-list-update-i/
Also, @Backshe9 From the article sited above, my guess is that the admissions office start looking over the profiles of the waitlisted students before May 1st. In that way, they usually send the letters out shortly after May. (Read from other forums from last year!)
I applied to CAS, got waitlisted, so I’m hoping they reconsider me again…
I was also wait listed for CAS, how do they decide who to admit from their wait list?
Do we even have a chance…? lol
I don’t think we have much of a chance because NYU has already gotten used to their low yield rate, so this time i guess they’ll be pretty accurate predicting the class size and wont need to really use the waitlist that much T.T
From my school they took 5 people and I know none of them are going because of finances so hopefully this is happening all around
Does anyone know when NYU starts notifying waitlist decisions?
I saw some blogs from last year and it seems like they start notifying people in mid-May.
since they expect 35% of people admited to enroll (that means that 65 percent decided not to go) then they will only use the waitlist if the percentage of enrolled people goes down to less than 35 percent. However, this years waitlist is the biggest ever(15 percent), so maybe they are not so sure about that 35 percent, otherwise they would not have felt the necessity to expand the wait list, which is good i guess…
Is your school in a economically affluent area? (if yes then that is good news)
@Piringuino Yes it is a fairly wealthy suburb. Those students are just opting to go to other schools who gave them more financial aid.
Hi all i have a friend who graduated and is an alum from NYU Stern…
Am i allowed to have her write a letter on my behalf and send it to the adcom? is that considered additional unnecessary documentation?
