******NYU Class of 2020 RD Discussion******

Housing:

  1. Summer Session 2016 New York City - App Open
  2. Summer 2016 in Washington DC - App Open
  3. Academic Year 2016-2017 - App Open

Applied to College of Arts and Sciences Undecided

Unweighted GPA: 3.9
Weighted GPA: 4.6
ACT: 36

My housing page is vertical.
Summer Session 2016 - Application Open
Summer 2016 in Washington DC - Application Open
Academic Year 2016 - 2017 - Application Open

Applied to CAS

GPA: 4.65
ACT: 35

@columbhiroller That’s exactly what I have. Stern 1st choice, CAS 2nd choice. 3.92 GPA, 2340 SAT

given that the last three posters have very solid stats, and all have the same housing page, having app open for:
summer session 2016
Summer 2016 in DC
Academic Year 2016-2017

just might be a good sign!

Housing:

  1. Spring 2016 - Application Closed
  2. Summer Session 2016 - Application Open
  3. Summer 2016 in Washington DC - Application Open
  4. Academic Year 2016 - 2017 - Application Open

Weighted GPA: 4.38
SAT: 2170

I doubt the housing thing means anything haha

@TheRealTalq I do have to agree, not having the Spring Application seems to be a good thing as one CCer who got in with scholarship, he/she also did not have Spring App.

In addition, there seems to be a high correlation of high stats not having Spring 2016, although CollegeConfidential sample population is rather extremely small to actually determine the correlation.

Vertical housing

My housing page is vertical and it has:

  2. Summer Session 2016 - Application Open
  3. Summer 2016 in Washington DC - Application Open
  4. Academic Year 2016 - 2017 - Application Open

Applied to Stern

Weighted GPA - 4.51
SAT - 2320

Do you guys know when we’re suppose to get the letter in the mail? I live in MA

What does “open” and “closed” mean?

(Mine just says non-renewable undergraduate)

@asiplio00 “Open” means that the application can be accessed and you can fill it out. “Closed” means that you can no longer access the application.

My housing page is super weird… I just have Summer Session 2016 (application for which I can’t access) and Summer 2016 in DC. (I don’t have the thing for Academic Year 2016-2017 that everyone seems to have.) Does this mean I was rejected? :frowning:

I applied for CAS. 2400SAT/4.0GPA

Can someone explain the housing situation…I’m so lost. Is housing this big of a battle? I only see Summer Session 2016 and Summer 2016 in Washington DC on my portal? What exactly does “vertical” mean/imply?

Also, I’m still waiting to hear back from schools on the 31st, so does that mean I can’t sign up until after then (if I choose NYU)?

@Rmcenx Holy cow!!! I highly doubt that you would get rejected with a perfect GPA and SAT score. I’m not sure about the housing changes. Tbh, maybe the housing changes don’t even signify anything for this year. Idk

@nodaysoff97 From previous years, certain housing changes implied that one has been accepted (here’s the link to the summary of the housing changes - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1864482-perspective-reflection-on-house-change-theory.html). Vertical means that the terms (Spring, Fall, Summer) are listed vertically.

@nodaysoff97 Hey me too! Let’s be same-NYU-housing-page-best-buddies

@scholar861 thanks. Maybe, things just haven’t been fully updated given that not all decision have been disseminated.

@Rmcenx please, let’s hahaha. On the real, though, if you got the acceptance email, then I’m sure you’re fine. I got the email, and my Albert site is yet to show my admission––things must be side-tracked.

ED II CAS admit here! i’d strongly advise that you all do not focus on whether or not it says application closed or open, but focus on nonrenewable vs freshman changes when they arrive. last round, people who were both rejected and accepted were all around on the board on whether or not they could access the housing page. that is not the housing change we all obsessed over.
i’d also advise some people screenshot their pages to eliminate some confusion people have about how it looks.
good luck to everyone! xx

Honestly I’m done paying attention to housing lmao. There are so many constant changes that don’t seem to mean anything.

Can we all at least agree to post our admission decision and our housing portal for future applicants when they come out?

The vertical change isn’t anything important. It’s just NYU updating the appearance of the portal for everyone.

My DC upperclassman is open again :s
Summer NY open
Acad year open too :s
